Sorry, one more question....should we get his medical's done prior to submitting the application? Will it speed up the process? I know that they do have a period of time that they are valid, so we don't want to do them too early. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Yes your medicals have to be done before sending in the application but try to get them done just before you are sending in so it is closer to the application send in date....I didn't send mine in and the whole application got sent back to me

Hello everyone!! Cheers to the weekend

From what I read from the 2010 audit that was done in Kingston there is about 4 people actually that work on the Family Sponsorship Applications at the Embassy in Kingston. I am not sure if that has changed in recent years.

Chickie - say what now??? 4 people....that sounds crazy. I seriously hope they had hired more people since then.

Here is the link to that audit:

If you go down towards the end, you will see a chart that shows the people that work in each different department.

Seriously hoping they have upgraded this chart with a few more peeps!

Here's to a restful weekend everyone and positive week ahead for Kingston.

Wishing my girl Cee a wonderful time with her family on Jam Rock.

Hi All

I am getting married in March (have to wait until my divorce is final)

Welcome...you have found the right place for Q & A...
I thought you have to be divorced for a full year before you can re-marry in the Caribbean? I had a friend that went through this..

As long as I have a divorce certificate I can marry - I just can't get divorced in Canada until I have been separated from my ex-husband for a full year!

Good afternon forum fam, has anyone had a recent passport request (ppr)? Just wondering for the return envelope can you use any courier service? Also as a tip, when you need info. get your Jamaican spouses to communicate with KGN. They have been pretty good with getting back to us this way.

I only know that I have read several times that people use DHL.......not sure about other ones though sorry

Thanks!! I had a chance to read through some of it. They also noted that the more enquiries they receive, the longer it takes for them to process a case...lol.

Well that is good too know!

It's pretty quiet in here *chirp*chirp*chirp*... I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Hey good day to all. I am currently in the process of renewing both my Jamaican passport and my canadian visa. My visa expired at the beginning of this year. I just recently graduated from university and I am 21 years old. I am still dependent on my parents and I have no job as I intend to join the Jamaica Defense force in the near future. I have applied for the JDF so I am currently waiting for my application to be processed. I have traveled to Canada about 3 times before; two times as a minor and once for a semester to go on exchange to York University in my second year at university. Now I am worried that my application will be rejected because I am young, have no ties to the country (unemployed, no land ownership, etc), and I don't have much money in the bank for obvious reasons.

What advice would you give to me to better my chances of approval? Would it be wise for me to have someone from the Army (perhaps a recruiter) write a letter stating that they are in receipt of my application which is pending approval? Also, since I am dependent on my parents until my application is approved should i have them write a letter stating this along with their bank statements and so forth? My aunt (who is canadian) will be funding my whole trip to canada, including travel expenses? Should I submit original bank statements from her as well?

Please help me and advise me as much as you can

yes chickie72 it look like kingston is still in the stone ages when it come to these things.....i know that they have alot of immigration officers working in the embassy but the rate they are going make it look like there is only one person that deal with all the applications........like what ppl always say "My grandmother can move faster than that" Come on Kingston It about time to let all of us know somethings about there applications

Hey Charlie, how r u, havent heard from u in while, i hope everthing is ok
