Hello: first time using this site. I sent in my sponsorship application and was approved as a sponsor August 30, 2012. I noticed that my online file was updated last week to Medicals Received. I'm wondering what should I expect next and how much longer before we should receive an answer from Kingston.

Welcome to our forum family dandg and congratulations on your sponsorship approval! I wish I could look into my crystal ball and tell you what to expect from Kingston at this point but I'm not quite sure! I can share with you that I applied in March 2012, was approved in June 2012, and my e-cas has had Medicals Received since that time. I have not heard anything from Kingston - sometimes they will update e-cas to In Process when they begin processing your application and sometimes they don't. Welcome to the Kingston waiting game!!!

Yes Dandg......I'm new 2 this forum 2 and its all a waiting game....I think what I luv is that ppl r in the same boat as me.....basically I thought something was wrong w my file but when I hear that everyone else is waiting I don't feel bad.....I luv 2 read on everyones updates bcuz I find that the ppl here understand my problem....I can't talk 2 my friends they don't get it....but kingston needs 2 work faster...Christmas is coming......I hope this site helps u bcuz it has helped me....don't get got up in some of the hype u read here there's a lot of geniuine ppl here 2 help....very supportive...laughs and oh my God attitude....I luv it and I'm new.....I take what I want out of everything

Yes that is true about friends and family not understanding.....people don't understand because they can't even relate to the pain and lonliness that we are all going thru but at least there are a lot of people that can truly feel what you feel because we are all at the same point as you.

Hey good day to all. I am currently in the process of renewing both my Jamaican passport and my canadian visa. My visa expired at the beginning of this year. I just recently graduated from university and I am 21 years old. I am still dependent on my parents and I have no job as I intend to join the Jamaica Defense force in the near future. I have applied for the JDF so I am currently waiting for my application to be processed. I have traveled to Canada about 3 times before; two times as a minor and once for a semester to go on exchange to York University in my second year at university. Now I am worried that my application will be rejected because I am young, have no ties to the country (unemployed, no land ownership, etc), and I don't have much money in the bank for obvious reasons.

What advice would you give to me to better my chances of approval? Would it be wise for me to have someone from the Army (perhaps a recruiter) write a letter stating that they are in receipt of my application which is pending approval? Also, since I am dependent on my parents until my application is approved should i have them write a letter stating this along with their bank statements and so forth? My aunt (who is canadian) will be funding my whole trip to canada, including travel expenses? Should I submit original bank statements from her as well?

Please help me and advise me as much as you can

iam in the process of sponsoring my husband from jamaica and im going crazyyyyy everythings so confusing !! october 25th i was told by cic that i was approved to sponsor my hubby and that the application was being sent to the office in kingston and as of now we havent heard anything else, does anyone know what the hecks suppose to happen next ? this is so stressful I just want to get him here and when i look online it says the wait time is 17 months ill actually die if I have to wait 17 months im already going crazy as it is...I was told if you dont pay your RPRF right away it will delay your process as soon as I got the letter that I was approved I paid the fee and mailed the reciept now im scared this process is going to take even longer HELP!! lol

Welcome to the forum!!! Do stick and stay. The people here are amazing at answering your questions and the best part is that they are going thru the exact same thing!!!!

The next step in the process is for Kingston to have some kind of contact with your spouse in JA. Thru post, email or telephone. The problem is ... Kingston does things on their own time and no one really knows when!!!

Good news is that the majority of cases in Kingston do not actaully take 17 months. If you go back serveral pages on this thread you'll find a spread sheet with total processing times from 2010 up to ealier this year. Hang tight, We'll wait together!!!

Welcome Emmza.....glad you came and joined us.....as for the time lines, everyone's is different, and Kingston is rather slow. Some people get through in as little as 5 months and some take the whole 16months, different circumstances can change how long it takes, things like criminal records, if spouse every spent time in other countries, children on the application....all these different factors take a little extra time to process. No one here has actually heard anything to much lately from Kingston and most of us here now are from the last part of 2011 and starting into 2012 all the way thru to now. Under everyones names, they mostly have their timelines so you can look there, but a word of warning...don't base your time line on anyone elses because they are ever changing here and no two are ever alike and you kind will get depressed if you watch someone elses.....believe me we have all gone thru it LOL
