Welcome to the Kingston forum dandg, Emmza, najj!dandg said:Hello: first time using this site. I sent in my sponsorship application and was approved as a sponsor August 30, 2012. I noticed that my online file was updated last week to Medicals Received. I'm wondering what should I expect next and how much longer before we should receive an answer from Kingston.
Congratulations on your recent approvals for sponsorship - you're making progress and headway. eCas being updated to Medicals Received means just that...Medicals Received. ;D
Nonetheless, it's a good feeling to see ANY type of update as it shows there is actually someone behind the computer working on your file. From here onwards, it'll be a waiting game so I'd recommend keeping busy and try not to drive yourself nuts. As for when the visa office receives your application, it will go into queue for preliminary review. At this early stage, they'll review your application along with all supporting proofs/evidence and will either give a pass to move onto the next stage once they've concluded that your relationship has met the CIC criteria of a "bona fide" relationship. The next stage would consist of various checks including but not limited to criminality and backgrounds. Should, for any reason they cannot determine the "bona fides" of your relationship due to red flags, doubts or if the proofs are not sufficient, the visa office will contact your spouse or his/her representative for an interview set up. The below reported timelines are good benchmarks however outcomes/results are based on individual applicant/s circumstances.
Here are the Family Class CIC statistical data for the last 12 months ending June 30, 2012:
Cases Passed Cases Refused Approval Rates Total # of Visas Issued
Kingston, Jamaica 1,238 166 86% 1,238
...and a few more stats:
% of cases (Spouses, Partners & Children) were completed within X months or less
20 % 30 % 50% 70 % 80% Total # of Cases

Partners & Children 6 7 9 13 16 1,062
Spouses & Partners 6 7 10 14 17 730
