Happy Hump Day, all!

Thanks for that Halfmoon! Guys, don't be alarmed if some of it seems outside our normal experience with KG, the steps being shown here relate largely to Skilled Worker applications, so not everything is applicable to Family Class (for example, we must submit our medicals WITH the application, Skilled Worker applicants must wait to be issued a request to do the medicals).

This is very helpful, thanks so much HM.

thanks for the clarification charile i was starting to see birds flying around my head in confusion lol

thanks for this update hm

I posted the info to offer those who aren't clear on how the background and security check process works. Nothing more. I think many of us wonder what happens behind the scene. I ran across this post and the individual who posted this appears to be quite the expert so thought it would be useful to all who aren't familiar.

I love it! I definitely wanted to have some idea of what was going on over there and why it takes so long. lol. Thanks again girl.

Yes a big part of the application is proving the genuinity of the relationship however and equally weighted parts are the background AND security checks which in some cases are out of CIC hands.

....and a good morning to all. 8)

Morning Charlie - Are you able to decipher/decode all the codes? I don't know what half of those mean? :-[

So glad you asked this....I feel like it's written in another language. I'm struggling!

CHC - Canadian High Commission
BFD - Brought Forward Date
VO - Visa office
SDEC - Selection decision
SECCRIM - Security/Criminality checks
CSIS - Canadian Security & Intelligence Service
COPR - Confirmation of Permanent Residence

Please note I cherry-picked any acronyms that might relate to a family class case. The other codes, such as CIO - NS (Case office in Nova Scotia where Skilled Worker apps are sent) and NOC (National Occupation Code) don't relate to Family Class.

As you can see, their selection decision is based on meeting minimum indicators. They need a minimum of 67 points to qualify. To qualify as a member of the family class, we must show that our relationships are genuine and not entered into to gain status under the Act/Regulations (Section 4 of the Regulations).

Mawnin Fam... lurking while at work :)

Very Interesting info Halfmoon, thanks for sharing!

Anxiously awaiting my GCMS notes... anyday now I should receive them :)

other than that, no news on this end...

*waves at Jamgirl* Morning!
