Being in default of court-ordered payments can become an issue. If you look back at the Sponsorship agreement form, Q 15 asks "Are you in default of a court order to make support payments to spouse, former spouse, common-law partner, former common-law partner or child?"

Remember that these issues can be brought to the attention of the VO and result in a delay of processing, because they must then assess if you remain eligible to sponsor your spouse.

You need to clear up everything with the FRO, try to get something in writing which clearly demonstrates you are in full compliance with the payments. Don't be late ever, and clear up any default currently outstanding.

to this date i haven't received any court ordered documents, could it still have an effect?

Halfmoon! When I read this post last night I completely forgot that I had emailed KG onMonday as well ! Hee hee....I wanted to know why my status says "application received" when they told me it was "in-progress". Well they responded this afternoon to my email. LOL...I hope they haven't flagged me as a nuisance! Here is my correspondence with them below.

I received the attached letter in March 25, 2012. I have not heard anything in regards to receipt of this package in Kingston, Jamaica.

Can it be confirmed that your office has received my husband's Permanent Residence Application.

I would like to be reassured that it was not lost in transit and I would greatly appreciate your response at your earliest convenience.

Yes, it could, especially if you suspect your ex-partner is trying to be vindictive. Be proactive, get in touch with FRO and get an idea of their take on your current situation. Don't just assume that because you put a cheque in the mail the issue has gone away. Make sure you know exactly what information is being held about your case at this time, as it represents what could be communicated to KG without your knowledge.

FW, you may want to remove your name from that email copy-and-paste as well.

Ohhhh thanks for sharing that info Faithfully. It's nice to know that your emails don't vanish into thin air as they respond back to you in such a timely manner. I would love to know what our status is from KG but fear that I'm adding more work to that tiny little office.
