Hello everyone its been 5 months Kingston started my process my papers just hoping to hear something soon, wife coming next month for our first anniversary ;D hope i go back with her lol

Question. My husband will be coming with his two teenagers one 15 and one 17. The 17 year old finished high school in Jamaica and has started college. Does anyone know how his credits transfer? Is he better off going back to high school here to do grade 12? tried googling but there little to no info on this online. I know they won't be coming for a while still but just trying to get everything prepared to make the transition as easy as possible as we also have a 1 year old. It is going to be a busy household lol. I can't wait.

It does save a little time so I was told, not sure how much I was planning to pay everything up front but couldn't afford it I'm rushing to pay the remaining now so they don't have to request it.

I Think i'm going crazy lol I keep checking CIC every hour or so Kingston only started processing our application on jan 25/16 and i know it will be a couple months before i hear anything but i can't help it lol at least i'll be going down in March to surprise my hubby

see if you can get a copy of his transcript from there and take it in to your local high school and see what they say, more than likely he might have to repeat a few courses, I remember when I came here in 98 from another island i should have been out into grade 9 but they put me into grade 8 instead

You're not alone. I check it everyday too even though I know that nothing is going to happen for a while.

see if you can get a copy of his transcript from there and take it in to your local high school and see what they say, more than likely he might have to repeat a few courses, I remember when I came here in 98 from another island i should have been out into grade 9 but they put me into grade 8 instead

Their education is so much more advanced. I spent 2 months down there with my son while he was in grade 3. My son's teacher had prepared work for him to do as I didn't want him to fall behind. When I saw what my son was doing compared to what the kids of his age in prep were doing in Jamaica I really had to laugh

I've heard that as well. My husbands nephew moved to the states when he was 14 and said the work they give in grade 9 here is the equivalent to grade 6/7 in JA. As for my step son he didn't take high school all that seriously and his mark aren't the greatest. I just want him to be the furthest ahead.

You're doing the right thing by preparing from now.

Education across the caribbean region is way advanced than canada but Canada will never admit that lol
