I don't think it matters if you collect the police certificate yourself or have them sent to KG. I remember a few people from the old forum collected it themselves and sent it in with their application and it was not a problem.

Once they get it its fine. I am not sure who but someone went to get the police check redone recently and they told them they no longer send them to immigration you have to collect yourself.

They are no longer deleivering it to the embassy..

Double check...

Since the experience is still fresh in my mind, here's how the Jamaican police certificate works:

1. Go to the North Towers at Oxford Road, take a right when you get in the lobby. Ask one of the nice policemen at the desk for a form to get your police records (take your own pen, for heaven's sake, don't depend on the one they give you to be working). Fill out the form, present your ID and TRN and payment to the cashier, receive your receipt, ID and TRN and exit the building.

2. If you are going to Duke St. same day, good luck. The line starts forming around 7:00 a.m., so by the time you get there, they might have stopped giving people numbers!

3. Go to Duke St. VERY early one morning, go inside and get a number before 8 a.m. Make sure you have your receipt and your ID, you will need these to be given a number to wait in line. If there is something else you can do while you wait, do so, otherwise, prepare to amuse yourself with the antics of the other people and the very rude police personnel. Take an umbrella, the space inside is very limited and you may have to stand outside for a time, and there is no shade.

4. Wait in line for your number to move slowly inside until you get to the inner room, where you will be given forms to fill out. Remember to have your ID and a pen.

5. Wait some more, you will finally hear "next!" at which point you go in, have your fingerprints and mugshot taken, hopefully not by the rude technician who couldn't spell my name even though it was all over the forms and my ID which she had in her hand. When you are finished, you will be sent upstairs to wait some more, they will call your name, and return your receipt to you with the date when you can come back to collect the record.

6. By this time, it should be about noon, go home and lie down and recover.

7. The collection hours are 12:30 to 3:30, ensure you arrive promptly. You will be told to wait outside in the sun, where every now and again, someone will come out with a few records in hand, call the names, and you have to say "present" then push and shove until you reach close enough to take your record from the officer.

8. Go home, lie down and recover.

So Charlie, you sent your police record with your application? They didnt keep it.. when I did ours back in Feb 2009 they kept it and we couldnt send it in.. it was to be obtained.. looks like they changed it.... thats exactly what I wanted to know!! Thanks!

Thanks for the hillarious and descriptive play by play! LOL Only if in the instructions they could tell it the way you did! :)

Sheraig... yup looks like you send it with the package... and I think its true Jammy... if you sent it with your application or if it is to be obtained because they kept it because thats what they used to do... its all the same...

I think its better if you send it with your package... its one less step that they have to do to get information.

Thanks all for the info!

CharlieD tooo funny :p

But I think the long wait time has to do with all the people redoing from June. After a while it should get settled again. They may even reduce the express service back to 3 days.

nae nae... thanks for the clarification. since I am out of the loop as far as up to date info, I am 100% sure that your info is correct and my info is outdated... i remember what I was like during my wait... I researched everything.. and I am sure you are doing the exact same thing.

Sorry if i made anyone confused lol... :p

All KNG needs to do now is send emails to those who have emails addresses along with calling and or sending out mail....

The whole mail issue was the worst... so for those who put down an email address on the application should automatically get an email especially when it is a request for Orginal Documents, passports, any clarifications on the application, medical and police redos or any important information necessary. I understand not everyone has email and internet or even a computer but for those who are the sponsor they could at least put down their email address and have it sent to them.

Mail in JA can take days, weeks, months... and you end up relying on a whole leap of people to handle it properly.

one of these days KNG will be up to par with things....... cuz u don know that all of those employees are sitting on their blackberries on FB and other things during work... so they well know how to use a computer. :)

Welcome back KC!!!! lovely to see you.

Jammy,Godbless,Sheraig...big up unuself

i am still in my low state, not feeling like i wonna do much, feeling so down. I have been reading most of the morning, tryna keep my mind off things.

For the police report you have to pick it up yourself, in the letter kgn sent me they said specifically that you are now responsible for picking up and dropping off the police report.

and Kc that whole negative thing...i wish that coward would come out and say what they want to say cause mi feel fi trace smaddy today! i got a negative too, not that i give a damn about the silly minus sign, just that there is so much tension and stress dealing with immigration i would just use the negative as an excuse to cuss out dem claat.

***guess thats another negative for me now*** lmao!
