Canada aims to open doors to 265,000 immigrants in 2014!!!!!!!

Slightly more than one-third of the 2014 immigration target will be for family reunification or providing a new home for refugees.

The minister also says things are "getting back to normal" in processing of immigration and visa applications after delays caused earlier this year by foreign service officers' rolling walk-outs.

Good link but I read some of the comments and its seems like a lot Canadians have a problem with the number stated by the Minister. They don't want the immigration to be so open. :-[ Feeling unwelcome and like mi a nuff up mi self in their country

I also read that most of that family reunification comes under the heading of Parent and Grandparent applications not so much the spousal applications. They seem to be accepting more parent and grandparent next year.

Looks like 20,000 will be grandparent/parent applications, the other 50,000+ will be other family reunification. Hopefully that is good news for all of us!

sometimes people just can't accept change immigration helps this country and the government is smart enough to see that! Never feel unwelcome Canada is a beautiful country and needs more people. Tough for people that don't like immigrants....they just have to deal with it because no matter where you go there will always be immigrants! We all bleed the same color!

You are correct my days of hunting for men are over... days of being rejected by my own a thing of the past. I do need a hobby.

I am super excited to see all the PPR's (and landing stories possibly) this month for our long-term members! I understand that this process either makes or breaks a couple due to the added stress and minimal communication from the government. I must also acknowledge the huge effort my husband has to make to deal with my emotional breakdowns when I get discouraged. Unfortunately I cannot empathize with members who wish they had extra time away from their partner, because every night when I go to bed I wish my husband was here with me.

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to active members that consistently contribute to the positive energy on this forum. I recognize that it is not always easy to remain positive when you see others being approved before you, but after a hard day I always feel so much better after reading the positive posts from Chickie, Neveah, and others.

Hi Everyone!

I'm new! As in... registered today new! I finally decided to register after ghost-stalking this forum for the past couple of months. I am new to the application process compared to some of you, but we are waiting.

Just 18 days after submitting our application, I was approved as sponsor and we are now on the waiting game for the hubby to be approved. I am heading to Jamaica this December to spend my birthday with him, and it's the very least we can do.

I agree that I couldn't imagine asking for more time apart, when the time we are apart seems to last forever.

I hope I will be able to get the emotional support I need in this trying time and I have nothing but positive wishes for everyone to have a speedy and positive application process! ;D ;D ;D

But I don't want to invalidate my sincere apology to Chickie nor turn off a newcomer... Who the cap fits let them wear it. TROW ME CORN ME NO CALL NO FOWL. Danny girl I cant tell you how much hot yoga I have had.. realize I don't need a stiff dildan in my bed every night. Like the sista said not everyone can go without the bundle of wood under neath their fire pit. No wonder the brothers are in such demand. It is was a lot easier than I thought it would be... flushing out the coward ditzy pix who in-boxed me.

Can you let us know when you applied for sponsorship? Chickie....keeps track of all things sponsorship that goes on. She has a form that we can all go look at too see how long the process is for everyone.

We applied May 29, 2013. And I received approval June 18, 2013 (so maybe closer to 20 days - lol). We were married on Feb. 13, 2013 on his MoBay property.

I look forward to having people that can relate. I'm so tired of hearing "OMG, I could NEVER do what you are doing with the long distance." I get it's in awe, but sometimes I just am not in the mood to hear it.

It's a struggle and now my husband and I are talking babies... *eeps! I'm on the fence about getting pregnant before he comes, but being 30, makes me think that perhaps we should start trying!

Any questions or clarifications, I'm an open book so please don't be afraid to ask
