Even though we do not know each other, I do think of you and pray for an end to your wait.
Knowing they asked for an extension months ago.. and knowing some have handed in their pp
months ago breaks my heart.... no answers.... really.... it's not possible, but I"d want to pick
up the phone and demand some kind of answer.... a date... an appox date... why the h.... it's taking
so long sorry... venting on your behalf but seriously believing you'll hear something this month

I second that mrs.Davis
We as North Americans are used to getting answers, and this past year trying to deal with MY OWN government.. Has been mentally exhausting. I'm almost ashamed of the country I call home. I feel they have let me down, when it is their duty to support me.

Danielle you too have been waiting over a year.. may I ask.. do you know why?

Wish I knew.
My husband is a straight forward case. No criminal record. Perfect health. No children. Never travelled. we have been married for 2 years. Together for seven.

I've emailed KGN twice since August 8th. With no reply.
My husband has emailed once. On sept 24th. Also no reply.
Seems nev and my cases are similar. Only thing is she applied before me. approximately 5 months I think.

I am in no way justifying the amount of time we have to wait for this whole process to go through. I just think that the wait would be easier to deal with if we were kept in the loop. Talked to, not ignored. Or when there is contact, not given some cookie cutter response to keep us quiet a little longer.

In my most recent email to Kingston I asked them to explain to me how they claim to process in order of receipt when people that have applied after me have already landed.

I got a copy/paste response that didn't answer any of my questions including this one... ::)

If I hear one more person say that each application is different I'm going to scream. Of course there are differences but we are all completing the same application!!! In the end we all want the same thing and they can't all be entirely different. If two people applied in March 2012 and both of their spouse's have never left the island, no criminal background, are healthy, no previous marriages, and no children, how different can those applications really be? So how does one of those applications get processed in six months and the other person is still waiting at 19 months? ::)

Maybe it is just me but I honestly do not believe that the papers are processed in order of receipt. I believe everything is based on how you structure your application. How all the papers you submit are organized. Whether you have everything upfront (i.e. medicals, full payment, etc.) If you do everything up front and stay ahead of the curve, chances are your papers will be processed faster because everything is already there. Your situation will also play a factor in the process. Meaning, your financial status, as well as the length of your relationship before the filing. Whether you are paying to support your spouse abroad, while you are living in Canada, and whether you have kids, etc. If you provide very little information on your relationship, your application will be scrutinized further, and delays may occur. Such that, if you have 2 years or more in emails, print them all, attach them, organize them in a way where a person can see the relationship develop into something more than just friendship. How often you visit also plays a role. Were you intimate? Did you provide information in that regard? I know some of us are private in those sections but the more you are transparent, the faster your application will go through. If an officer has to 2nd guess your application, my guess is it will end up on some other officers desk for days or months before it is looked at again. If your situation has not gotten better, you should really write a letter to the ottawa immigration office where you sent in your original application and also send a second copy of the letter to the consulate to where the 2nd half of the application originates. Back in 2002 when I submitted my first sponsorship application, I resided in Trinidad for 1.5 years. Held a perfectly sound and secure job that was permanent, and paid a good salary. The ottawa office sent me a letter that if I return to Canada, they will process my application. I returned, could not find work and put a strain on the family finances. They promised me I would hear back after 2 months of landing in Canada and we heard nothing. Thus I wrote a letter to ottawa and consulate in Trinidad. Within 4 weeks we heard back of approval (believe it or not, they even called to apologize). The entire process took 9 months. We filed in Feb 2002. She landed in Canada Oct 2002 that same year. Based on my previous experience, it all depends on your situation and as well, how you write letters to the associated offices to present your case. I don't believe it has anything to do with the order in which it is filed based on my previous experience as I know another person was waiting over 12 months and I got approved sooner than later. One other thing, those that believe lawyers will speed up the immigration process are naive. If anything, it will cost you more and it will make no difference on the duration of your application. One thing lawyers are good at is organizing the paper work because they know how to organize it so that its processed more efficiently. I suggest before you file, you do your research how to structure your application. Thats my two cents on advice. It took me 8 months to prepare the paper work to sponsor my wife. We were preparing the papers since last year Aug 2012 up until our wedding earlier this year. Our filing was almost 2 inches thick, I paid the full sponsorship & landing fees upfront and it cost me $120 to FEDEX on top. I sent in the papers in May. June 3rd we received confirmation of it being received. June 27th, I was approved as a sponsor. Now am waiting for approval for my wife from the Canadian Consulate in Kingston. Getting approved in less than 4 weeks really surprised me because I didn't expect to hear back for at least 3 months.

The sponsorship approval was less than 30 days waiting time when you applied. That's why you heard so fast for the first stage. Last year at the sametime the waiting stage was almost 3 months. The long wait time come once the Papers are in Kingston :(

Good morning Kingston

It's the start of a new week. So when your done eating your Ackee and Saltfish breakfast and your just sitting enjoying your freshly brewed Blue Mountain coffee....why don't you pick up that phone and start calling some of our spouses. Just a crazy idea we all have but it would be great for you to do this. It's getting close to holiday season up here, winter is coming and what better way to get our spouse use to the cold then letting them come home to us. I know that you wouldn't want to be away from your spouse during the holidays so please take this into consideration when you are looking at the papers on your desk. Wouldn't you want a nice clean empty desk by then so you could enjoy the holidays??? I know that we all would.

So please enjoy your coffee and pick up that phone. Our spouse are expecting that call

Thank you and enjoy your day

Hubby on his way to Kingston embassy...

I'm sooooooo nervous. Didn't sleep ...can't eat. Lol. Oh gosh.
How can a interview determine ones future ? It seems so inhumane ...

Need everyone's thoughts and vibes for today's hurdle of life

I am quoting Kingston when I say that they process in the order of receipt....we all know it's not done this way!!!! And you are correct, using a lawyer does not speed up the process. As I mentioned to you in an earlier post, you did not hear from CIC-M more quickly than you should have, Stage 1 processing was 30 days!!!!! When I applied it was at 90 days!!!!

I have been with my husband for almost five years and visit him regularly. I have been in the same career for the last 14 years with the same company making a very decent salary which can support both me and my husband. Having kids does not prove you are in a genuine relationship (no disrespect to anyone with kids) it means you had sex. My husband and I would love to have a child but at the rate this process is going that may not happen for us. We provided all the proof we had, took months to complete the application (size does not matter - quality over quantity) and paid all the fees upfront.

If Kingston has further questions about my application or needs additional proof then they should have called my husband a longggggggggggggg time ago. It shouldn't take 19 months and counting to 'scrutinize' an application!!!
