Hi Keke, I have used it before to send additional info to Kingston and they received it. To report a change I would use it instead of regular email.
Thanks! I was thinking that may be the better method to report any changes.

Good evening!

Hubby's police check expired on Dec 31, 2012 and we have decided that he will go get another one umprompted by Kingston. Is his only option to travel to Kingston to get it done and then pick it up when it's completed? Is there another alternative? It is much easier for him to get to Montego Bay.

I hope everyone is having a blessed weekend and remember every day that goes by brings us one day closer to being with our significant others!

Yes, it really does depend on your immigration officer and their case load!

Hey!!
There is a new process in Jamaica for police record checks where you have to go to your local tax office to pay & request police check and then you take the reciept to your local police station to pick it up in 1 week (if you pay extra for express) or 2-3 weeks later.

They still need to go to their local police station , with the receipt, for the fingerprints to be done though. My husband was told that when he went to go pay for it at the tax office 2 weeks ago

Interesting......CIC is still showing this process on their site.

Thanks for your response LHNB! Can you please let me know where you got this information from? Is there somewhere I can reference it online? According to the CIC website we have to do it the old fashioned way through Kingston. ;) :-*

Did your hubby go to both his local tax office and his local police station to get his police certificate?
My husband had to do this for a job clearance back in the day; however, he's not aware it can be completed for immigration purposes.

:)

You go to the tax office and pay for it....then you will need to go to the police station with the receipt to get the finger prints done. Once they are completed they will advise your husband when to come back and get them based on how much he paid. 1000.00 JMD is for about 21 days and 2000.00 JMD is for a week. He can;t pick them up until the date he is advised to pick them up

If you read the link above it says you go to the tax office and take the receipt with his passport to the police station to get his prints done

as far as I know this has been the same procedure for more than a year now with the exception that you can additionally do your prints in Montego Bay now

Hi Sammystorm - the link above says to apply in person at the Ministry of National Security and then take the receipt to the Crimal Records Office on Duke Street.......the actual finger print is done at the local police station....(that's what I get from it or maybe I am missing something). This is what my hubby did when he got his done last year. I believe this is the "old fashioned way" that Nevahea was referring to.

We are saying the samething.....my husband just went and got this done the week before christmas. he went to the tax office and then to the police station....or as he say the Po Po.

Also I know that someone else's husband on here followed the same steps as mine...not once but twice and all was good

In the end all that matters is that they pay for it, get heir prints done so they can get their asses up to us were they belong
