His name shows up only under Sponsored Person which is in the second blue box. His name is beside Decision Made and Application Received in the other 2 columns......no address for him anywhere.

Howdy howdy! Sandy blowing some winds our way tonight! Ugh, it was a wet, windy day out there today.

From what I have observed, "medicals received" is no longer a sign of impending finalization of a file. It USED TO BE. About 2 years ago when I first came to this forum, it was the case that KG would request the medicals as the final step and seeing "medicals received" on eCAS was a sure-fire sign you were in the PPR stage. That is no longer the case, as apparently CPC-M is now responsible for uploading the medicals.

When your application is received at CPC-M, it says "application received". It will change to "decision made" when the sponsor is approved. There is no "in process" stage here, as this is a simple check to make sure the sponsor meets the eligibility criteria and there is a completed application which will be sent to the VO. You MAY see "medicals received" at this stage.

When your file gets to KG, your spouse's section of eCAS will switch over to "application received" once the application is uploaded and the file created by KG. If you did not see "medicals received" soon after or concurrently with the sponsor's approval, you may now see "medicals received". From there, it MAY move to "in process" to signal it is close to finalization. I say "may" because this is not guaranteed. In some cases, it may simply go to "decision made" from "application received" and your spouse is contacted for PPR and the other finalization steps.
Hi Charlie, I got sponsor approval about a week ago and under sponsorship application status is says decision made. Then under permanent resident application status, it says application received but it says the August date that Mississauga received my application (not the late Oct date that POS should receive my application). So I think this means that POS has not received my application yet even though it says application received under sponsored person. Is that correct?

Then it may not have been entered. Don't stress about it, KG is lazy that way. When they finally entered mine, it was wrong, but I still got the mail anyways, because on the letter it was correct (somehow!).

It will likely change again when POS updates the file. They do not hold on to files at CPC-M, they go off to Ottawa to be sent via diplomatic courier to the visa offices. This takes 10-14 days on average, depending on the VO, so a week later your file may still be in transition.

There will be "application received" under the sponsored person's name because the application is now in the system at CPC-M. This will be dated when the application was actually submitted. It changes again once the VO creates their file after having received the paper file.

Each of the stages causes changes to the same parameters in the GCMS system. This is why it can be informative to order your GCMS notes if you have passed at least 6 months since your file was sent to the VO, so you can get an idea of what happened when with your file. Mind you, you're not going to see the initiation of background checks and so on, but you can still see pertinent notes from the IO's head when they reviewed your file.

You can let it stress you, or you can trust that while you don't know every detail of what is going on, or understand even what you are aware of, things are happening as they should. As your ticker says, each day is one day closer. Take that to heart, live your life as best and as fully as you possibly can in spite of the challenges of being long distance, and prepare yourself for the day when this challenge is over and the worst thing you and your spouse have to worry about is who squeezed the toothpaste from the middle of the tube! ;)

Hi all, Just my 2 cents worth
I don't think that "medicals received" means anything else than what it says. Reason I said this is because when we (my wife & I) applied and she was approved as sponsor, our ecas was immediately updated with "medicals received".
At that time our file had not even left Miss. as yet.
We then went 3 months for POS to contact us and another 4 months until we received our COPR.
Hi,

This entire process is confusing because there doesn't seems to be any consistency. I submitted my application early August and received an acknowledgement letter on October 18th. After I received the letter I checked online to check the status and it shows under sponsor "decision made" and for my spouse it shows "application received". I clicked on "application received" and it states that my spouse's application for permanent was received on August 3, 2012 and also that medicals were received.

After reading all the other comments, I am confuse as heck as to what all this really means....SMH

It means your file is where it needs to be. You are perfectly correct, there is NO consistency. The sooner you let go of any expectations in this regard, trust me, the less you will stress about what any of it means.
