Good morning everyone
I hope all is well and your families all survived the storm with little or no damage to property (all though those can be replaced and redone) as long as we have life.....
Thoughts and prayers to those in the other Cuba and the bahamas who still have to tangle with Sandy
hoping to here some good news today from someone here on this forum I doubt very much it will be me but as long as someone has something to celebrate today i will be happy ..........
I am thinking of going to jamaica for christmas but right now with the price of tickets and the way my job is going it might be a safer bet to wait untill the new year.... that means yet another aniversary spent without my husband hopefully it will be the last ..... i am not sure why but i have a felling that things will not come togather till in the new year for us ......... happy thursday everyone ;D

Big sigh of relief ........... as per notes on the CIC website the Canadian embassy is closed yesterday and today so.....who knows ....anyways they are back to work tomorrow...maybe the joy of being alive will light a fire under them and they will start pick up there speed on reuniting families

Well that definately makes me feel a lot better. I was under the understanding that an IO will not start background checks until the selection process was complete and passed. This must mean that all of my husband's checks are finished. Hopefully my hubby really will be here for Christmas.

Good mawnin fam! Today is the "Twenty-sixth" hoping that somebody's prediction comes true today !!

Saw this on yahoo news this morning....

"MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Some newlyweds now face a new rule the government says is designed to combat marriage fraud.

The regulation applies to Canadians or permanent residents who bring their spouse to Canada from overseas.

They'll now have to live together in what the government calls a legitimate relationship for two years or the sponsored spouse could lose permanent resident status.

The rule will only apply to those who have been married less than two years and have no children together at the time of their application.

Immigration Minister Jason Kenney says sometimes the sponsor in Canada is being duped and sometimes the marriage is actually a commercial transaction.

He says implementing a two-year conditional permanent residence period will help deter fraud and the victimization of Canadians.

The conditional status will be waived in cases where there is evidence of abuse or neglect or where the spouse already in Canada dies.

The new regulation will apply to all applications received after today.

It follows measures introduced earlier this year also aimed at sponsored spouses.

Those rules require a sponsored spouse to be a permanent resident for five years before they in turn could bring a partner or spouse to Canada."

Thank you! I don't know how much time to anticipate so trying not to keep one in my head but very hard. I read last night that someone from a different VO orders they're GCMS notes every month like clockwork (I had thought of this and went against it lol remember everyone? lol) anyways, he sees what goes on with his file and basically it stuck out to me that he stated it had been 3 weeks from the time his checks were completed to the time he got PPR. I can't remember which VO he is going thru but man, it is nice to think that can happen. But certainly Kingston does not have a reputation for being that quick lol... A so it go. I will be over the moon if he is here before Christmas!


PS I miss Anada!!! I miss her craziness and honesty in our forum! I hope you are having the time of your life!!!

Well, lucky for us JA applicants, the two years will be up soon after we take time to sort out our applications and await this long "ssa" approval process lol

With all the positive vibes I was getting from this site I decided to be proactive and send an email to the Kingston Immigration on Wednesday nite and this was the response I got today.

Dear Madam:

Your spouse's application has been sent to an officer to be assessed. We will be in touch with him when this is done.
Thank you for your good wishes.
