CIC has to respond to your MP, question is, how much or little info will they give. And the other question is IF the MP will be willing to inquire. Some MPs refuse to inquire until you are past the 16 month mark (for Jamaica). This is the 2nd time I have had my MP inquire. I have gotten very brief responses that seem to hold little info, but it helps ease me along.
Here is a few things I have learnt... (this is all my opinion too, so take it with a grain of salt
if need be)
Most people on our forum, who have been waiting for longer than 7 months, know why their process has gone over 7 months... either its because of dna testing, children on application, RCMP clearance, etc. I don't have any of these. I have been waiting a year and the only update that I have received voluntarily from Kingston was my husband's address was added to his ecas back in June. I have been waiting a year. There is no explanation for my wait. I may never know what is taking so long. So this is why I chose to ask my MP for the inquiry.
Seeing as you got sponsor approval in May, and it takes on avg 2 weeks for KGN to receive your file, I would try to hold off til December before inquiring. But, I would also be prepared at that time to order your GCMS notes so you can learn more about your file.
