So I called my MP's office today to get information on what happens when they inquire about our files. THis is what I was told...

When my MP's office inquires, their email goes to Ottawa to Minister Kenney's office and then a provincial representative there contacts CIC-Kingston. KGN pulls the file from wherever it is, even from the IO that may be reviewing it. Once they review the file and give info to Ottawa your file goes back to the bottom of the pile. EEEK! This is in cases that are before the 16 month date. She said it MAY slow down your file as it could increase your wait time by going back to the bottom of the pile. She said if it is in process, the IO would have to stop processing it and may start processing other files before they come back to yours. And that once they inquire for you, they are not allowed to inquire again for another 6 months!

Anyone else get similar info from their MP? I was curious of the process and it doesn't sound like a gamble I want to take at this point...

Don't know about them not being "allowed" to inquire for another 6 months, Jamgirl. I know someone who has made several inquiries via her MP and each time the VO responded with information, all of the inquiries took place within 6-9 months of the application being filed.

I have heard that inquiring about your file before the standard wait time does slow the process, as a matter of fact they list that as one of the things that CAN affect your timeline in the application guide. I am not sure about it myself though. I think for ppl waiting over the 16 month time, personally I wouldnt stop calling them lol.

Hi everyone regarding involving ur MP my personal experience was in dec /11 it was my 1 year mark from filing so I called my MP every 2 weeks from mid dec til mid feb..(I felt NO WAY to bug tru Im here watching ppl fly thru so Im like what about us)... When I called her she called them so by mid Feb they apoligized to her that it was taking so to find any info out.. An investigation was ordered by the IO's supervisor because of the amount of times the MP had requested ANY info.. Feb 14th they starting processing meds redo request and then PPR on Apr 2.... So my personal opinion is to bug THEIR ASSES especially if u have been waiting long.... Btw stay strong to everyone still going thru this nightmare experience

I feel your pain girl and trust me everthing you talked about I been through it , my family here and even most of my friends (all except one ) from the moment they heard that we had decided to get married they all did a 180 degree turn on me… none of my family was there, my mother even tried to convince me that it would be better to leave my daughter with her here …. Seriously …even my family back home the only people who showed up at the wedding were my aunty and her daughter….everyone else refused to attend and some even to this day have nothing good to say about him.. funny thing is he is such a wonderful man and none of them know anything about him.. but I always say you cant change bad mind so let it be… I know what I did was right … I LOVE MY HUSBAND with everthing I have. We got married on boxing day 2010 his whole family was there and as for me there were only 3 people my aunty her daughter and my girlfriend who flew out on Christmas day (left her kids at home with her mom …to be there for me on Christmas day)
When I think about the only thing I can do is laugh to think my two sisters my mom, my stepdad my whole family not one of them could be there for me and she made that effort… that’s something I will never forget ..

to say it does not sting me that my family showed no support of my marriage ... I would be lieing but like Jesus said in LUke"father forgive them for they know not what they do"
My only revenge is to kill them with kindness...show them that we may have the same type of blood running through our veins but i am cut from a different cloth
I can't wait for my husband to be here and we can finally be toaghter and move on with our lives
it's been a long hard journey, and i know that we still have alot of ways to go but i keep looking towards that light at the end of the tunnel and everyday that passes it gets brighter and brighter

Good morning guys...I want everyone to know that we are all here wishing for the ppl still in waiting stages to get thru quick. Bear in mind that everyones situation is diffrent and there could be lots of factors that drag out the process. For example in my case, hussy had never left Jamaica so there was no additional background checks to do, so for some this will make the wait longer if your spouse has travelled. I just dont want you guys to lose faith, cuz I just know that wait time can be excrutiating. I have said this before, but there is a bit of guilt along with the thrill of getting thru fast, when so much ppl are in the same boat still waiting. Having a complete app, and paying the fees upfront also help minimize the time.

ready, it was 2- 1/2 months before we got our letter of approval in the mail...and prior to that we did not hear a single peep from anyone, when did you send in your pkg? HOLY CRAP-just looked at the processing times....never seen it that Long!! this for sure has something to do with why you arent hearing anything!! They are still working on January apps!
