Hi,
my background check was completed recently and I'm currently waiting for the online test invite.

My existing foreign passport is expiring in a few months, so I need to send it to the embassy as part of the renewal application. Unofrtunately, this could take a few weeks (maybe even a couple of months), so I wanted to ask if there is any concern regarding the ongoing citizenship application ? Would I need to have or present the passport for the online knowledge test or any other upcoming step ?

I took the citizenship test using a Canadian government issued ID (I used my driver's license). You should be fine if you have another government issued ID.

I am July 2021 paper applicant, received AOR in Sep.
Received fingerprint request on Jan 10
Completed fingerprint on Jan 13.
I check the status online and it still says waiting for fingerprint. Anyone knows how long it takes for the fingerprint to show on your online account.

Here is the timeline for my wife who got the fingerprint request on Dec 20, 2021. Hope this helps.

Ghost update today on account!

What does that mean? What your status says online?

A ghost update is when "Updated on" date on the top right corner ( on the new online tracker ) changes but there's no actual update on your application.
This is mostly when some IRCC agent opened your file ( to work on it, or not ). Usually some do get an update after this but others do not.

How you know results were mailed to RCMP on Jan 4?

She sent an email to "ccrtis-scictr@rcmp-grc.gc.ca" asking for an update. In that email, you need to provide the following:
Name:
Date of Birth:
Date of Application:
Reason for Record Check: Citizenship
Mobile:
DCN:

We sent the email to RCMP on Jan 18 and we got the following reply from them on Jan 27:

"In response to your request for a status update on a civil criminal record verification for: Canadian Citizenship
Please be advised that the verification in question was completed and mailed on: 2021-01-04
The result of our certified criminal record check has been returned to the address indicated on the electronic submission."
