What happens if a passport expires and the applicant can't renew it because of covid 19 slowness. Will they reject the application even if the process is at 90%?
In the past they would ask for new passport. Currently their policy is not rejecting applications for lack of a document (due to covid) and instead keep giving 90 day extensions. I think this applies to passport as well.

you will not get your PR approved till you get your new passport updated. I heard they will not give PR to those who only have less than a year validity left of passport and they will request the new passport. I think it would be unfair to reject the application for that reason and you couldn't get it on time because of covid
My AOR is June 3rd and my passport is valid till dec 2021...should I apply for passport renewal in December if I don't get any decisions by then?

I thought the limit was 6 months validity.

Hi, you right, below is the message from IRCC:

 > Passport/Travel Document: We require a passport with a validity of greater than six (6) months in order to assess your application. Please renew your passport, and provide a scanned copy of your new passport.

Hello guys!

How long does it usually take for Service Canada to call you for Biometrics? I got my letter July 27th and I haven't heard from them yet. Should I call them back? Any advice?

Thank you!
I waited for almost a month for a call from service canada for the biometric appointment.

Also it is mentioned that IRCC claimed that it required the extension due to the volume of records that needed to be processed and the operational challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic

This is almost normal now, lot of folks are seeing similar messages/time extensions these days varying from 60 to 90 days. One can file a complaint about this with OIC and provide representations but they are mostly ineffectual.

I'm in the same situation. AOR May 16. GVA too. Have not received a call for my son. I'm exempt and bio shows completed Oct 13. Seems IRCC might not have forwarded his details to SC. Is your application also showing bio completed?

Have you received a call for biometrics? I'm still waiting anxiously. I received a generic email stating that because of COVID things are proceeding slower than usual to my webform reply.

I don’t believe that is the case though

My passport was expiring 2021 May and I got my Pr Oct 29th 2020. I applied through MPNP. March 2018 but because of how frustrating it was with the wait time I applied through cec in June. They approved my pr but close to November. I guess 6 months validity would have been November 5th 2020.

I have not received any any call. Still waiting. I also got a generic response on my webform. I think the system is faulty for those that are exempt and their dependant's need bio. The system sees it as bio complete and details are not forwarded to SC for call. I am at a loss on what to do
