The key takeaway for me from this is that sooner or later they would put an independent/civilian oversight over CBSA, similar to how CSIS was born out of RCMP. And yes maybe that prompted longer time in general for security checks starting mid-year 2018, both to start and to finish, as the notes from the CBSA president was sent to the Public Safety ministry only "early 2018".

As for whether that is related to my case, I've refrained from speculating too much for my own good. :p
ya i think it slowed down due to change in departments and more checks.

as for my case it appears they have not even started security. :(

Guys, please try not to rationalize what CIC does as there is no rationale behind it. Believe me, I am sure how they handle this is more messier than what we think.
This is my point of view:
Why CIC did not start security for some cases and why they don't send PPR even though the person is approved: There is a glitch in the system or someone is not trained what they need to do

fair enough. have to proactively wait it out.

They didn't reply to my email but they sent that a few hours after emailing.
Congratulations! Finally your wait is over.
I think it might be coincidence as they won’t send you ppr so fast in response to your email. Your time had come to receive it I guess.

I understand how security not even started must be agonizing. I am sure you've been doing all you can on your end, so at this point best we can do in addition is focusing on planning for post PPR life and having a good time in the meantime!

For example I am looking forward to my trip home to visit my siblings and my cute baby cousins!!

The only reason CIC is escalating the application of the asylum seeker is simply for publicity, show off and gesture. They don't care what religion, race, or gender she has. I am pretty sure if it wasn't for publicity, the girl had to go to several years of SS!!!

Fair enough and it’s possible there is no rationale and logic to things they do.
But when we discuss we are also just trying to kill the wait period. If all of us just waited patiently then this thread won’t be 1400 pages long. So its just a coping mechanism. Atleast it was for me. So, I understand your concern and point of view but perhaps you take our discussions rather too seriously. :D Chill man. Everyone of us here probably knows IRCC will do things however they wish but then that’s the whole point of being on the forum to discuss things else there would be only posts announcing PPRs or APR dates.

apply for Bridging open work permit as soon as possible. if you want to keep your job. Yes I gusss you have to inform CIC. But I will recommend you talk to an agent over call.

I am on a study permit and not work permit so I don't think I can apply for BOWP
