Hello All, I submitted my spouse PR application on June 29th ( received by cic). My wife is currently living in the United states ( studying) and she is a citizen of Bangladesh by birth. So we chose the General Asia Information guide as our document gathering guide and attached the guide checklist with the application.

I assumed that as she is currently living in USA the cic will chose one of the US visa office to process her application. But as we used the general Asia information guide, would it cause the CIC to forward her application to Singapore visa office ( Bangladesh citizens' applications are processed in Singapore)??

If anyone has any insight regarding this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Guys,

Processing time reduced if you have applied in Canada for Sponsoring a family member outside Canada.

I dont know what does that mean because we all apply in Canada :p

CIC will either send the application to either the VO responsible for the country of residence or the VO responsible for the country of citizenship.

Usually, the country of citizenship is chosen.

Therefore your application will most likely go to SVO.

However, if your spouse has been living in the USA for a long time, they may decide to process it in Ottawa.

The posted processing times are not at all accurate anyways, and they change frequently. I believe it is based on a rolling average.

All the timeline posted means is that CIC processed 80% of applications for that country within the posted time frame. If you have a straight forward application, you can expect processing time to be significantly less than the posted time.

(Visitor and PR both approved, Happy :) :) :) ) We couple already in Canada!
that's only about 80% cases. And the rest 20% cases which are straight and which IRCC assumes to be real relationship takes no more than 3-5 months for decision made. That's why many people's receive passport request within 3-5 months.

Question; the AOR1 will be sent by e-mail, not regular MAIL?
I am not sure, when we filled out our applications, we both added our email addresses, which says that, the email will supersede the mail address....maybe that is why some people get MAIL and others email???

You can track it with the courier you used and see if it reaches the CIC office.

Okay so I've been reading through other threads, and something caught my attention. I just had to ask: if the principal applicant has a rejected TRV under his name, does he for sure have a UCI?

Back story: My husband tried to apply for a TRV when I was pregnant so he could be here for the birth of our daughter. Of course, it was rejected. We didn't lie about it on the forms. We specified that he tried to visit but was denied. However, we didn't know that he was supposed to already have a UCI number from that application so we didn't indicate that on our sponsorship forms. Is this going to be a problem?

The same thing happened with us and I didn't realize the TRV had UCI's until recently, so I hope it won't be a problem. I guess I will wait to see what others say!!!

It won't be an issue. You can put the previous UCI on the application if you have it/remember it. It's not mandatory, even if you already have one.

My application was received on May 31st, Got AOR1 by email on June 18th. ECAS does not show any results if I search with UCI or file number under sponsor or applicant name, DOB and country of birth! Any advice?
