FYI, I thought this was useful to share;

The Canadian Government has announced that from 15th March 2016 certain visitors flying into Canada will require an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA).

What is an eTA?
eTA is a new entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air.

The new process will allow the Canadian government to screen all travellers before they enter the country. The authorization is electronically linked to your passport and is valid for five years or until your passport expires.

The cost to apply for an eTA is $7 (CAD) per person.

This kind of off-topic, maybe make a new thread? But what I was thinking about this is that it's going to screw over a lot of people who only have minor offences on their record, like that guy who got his working holiday visa but was denied an ETA because of a minor offence that was supposed to be wiped from his record when he was a teenager. And I wonder if they will allow applications at airports, there are gonna be a lot of people that don't know this exists.

Well, hopefully it goes fast and smooth! So far São Paulo is working really fast, hopefully it won't change to me! Lol

Just checked my wife's ecas account and it now has a new line:
1. We received your application for permanent residence on June 8, 2015.
2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on August 19, 2015.
3. We started processing your application on August 3, 2015.
4. Medical results have been received.

It was 1,2 and 4 on Monday. So maybe things are looking up.

Hi guys,

I forgot to mention that regarding the latest email CIC sent my wife, that in addition to the police certificate request, they also ask that we submit Appendix A, a document which was attached to the email.

In that document, we have to include my wife's passport information, and the address in which the passports can be returned. Under the form, it says "passport request - IRPA". Can it be safety assume that our application is now under the"passport request" stage?

Has anyone else received this email? Also, it only mentions in the email to send police certificates and appendix a, with no word of sending the actual passport. Maybe because my wife is from a visa exempt country?

Not sure, but maybe some of you guys have some insight.

Well, seems not so fast at my side, though both sides shows In Process, but at PR In Process sub shows only two lines,

Mine (Vienna) is saying

1. We received your application for permanent residence on June 9, 2015.
2. We started processing your application on August 13, 2015.

The bottom one showed up about 2-3 days ago. Still no news about my medical though, and haven't been able to find the time to visit the Doctor's office.

it was only #'s 1 and 3 since last Wednesday, and then today when my husband check the email ( also check your spam/junk folder fyi) he got an email saying they assigned a fike number for him and they have started processing his application for PR on Aug 11 but somehow there was a part on his email that was highligted and said that:

At the end of this document is a request for additional documentation required within 30 days.
Once you have complied with this request, if any additional information or documentation is required to assess your application, we will contact you or your designated representative.
Please note that the documentation requested in this letter is required even if you receive a subsequent letter from our office asking for additional documentation.


but we looked at the attachment and it was only showing the "government of Canada logo" that we see on all their correspondence.
anybody had the same issue? because we don't wanna be missing a doc that we were supposed to submit in the 30 day period if there ever was.
