Can I ask why they requested the photos for PR card again? They don't need to be sent in with your application for your country? Or were they asking for more pictures?
We are completely in the dark as to their motivation for requesting the additional photos. We sent four photos with the initial application, as required by the country-specific instructions (US). On August 27th they requested "Two (2) passport-size photographs. (Photographs must conform to the Permanent Resident Card Photo Specifications.) http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/5445EB-e.pdf" Maybe two of the original four were unacceptable for some reason... or someone spilled coffee on them?? I really have no idea.

I do have my suspicions that the request for IMM 5409—Statutory Declaration of Common-law Union, which was not required as a part of the initial application, has to do with Condition 51. Our common-law relationship is of long enough duration (4+ years) to be exempt from Condition 51 but I suspect they wanted more solid documentation if they were not going to apply the condition to my COPR (Not that it matters to us. We're together for the long haul).

This almost made ME spill my coffee! lol... You are probably right, god only knows what they do with our stuff as they are processing it! Accidents do happen!

Hi guys. I received an email from CPC Ottawa this morning. I am in receipt of ODSP and I was under the impression that I could sponsor my spouse given that I was receiving social assistance for disability. Furthermore, how can he provide proof they require when he is living in the States? When he is here he will of course look for a job. Pretty confused. Email is below:

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada. In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following documents:

Ø Provide evidence of adequate financial arrangements for care and support (not involving social assistance) that are in place for yourself in Canada. This may include, but is not limited to, paystubs, employment letters, and tax documents including the most recent 2013/14 notice of assessment (T4&NOA) for both you and your sponsor. This must be received at this office by: 2014/11/25

what will probably work is proof of savings, proof of "registering" with employment agencies, and also any letters of support from family who are willing to help you while you get on your feet. they want to be assured you or him will not apply for social welfare upon arrival, since it sounds like you may be on a fixed income. anything that shows you have some sort of safety net for when he settles in canada. obviously it will be difficult to prove employment in canada, so perhaps he can get letter from his current employer stating he's gainfully employed, and have him explain he plans to stay there until approval. he can send his tax returns instead of NOA,since it's obviously not available. I would recommend writing a statement together to explain your plans financially.

Being married to me, he couldn't even apply for social assistance. A married couple can't separately receive assistance. My annual income in 18,000. We don't really have family support and we only have 6000 in savings. He has US tax returns though. I hope it will be sufficient.

it might be worth while to explain that fact in your letter to ensure the officer is educated on the matter.

No updates - My app was received June 3rd, I got SA on July 29th.

Still waiting, waiting, waiting, and checking ECAS every Tuesday. If I call my MP, would they possibly have an update? I hate not hearing anything :(. Sigh.

I do know that I need to be more patient!

your mp will not help you or be able to help you until you are well past the posted processing date online or if there was a legitmate concern with a request from CIC.

I'm not planning on having corp before March of 2015 ... I called my Mp because they kept asking me for the same documents. No one not even Cic knows why. My application was April to start off. They were reluctant to send an inquiry but they did. They have told me to call again in 3 weeks and they will send another inquiry to make sure they have these documents on file..

O hi anyone ! What is MP :D

Hello everyone,

Well some good news (I hope!) on our front. This morning I checked online our application status and it indicated "decision made" !!! I just could not believe it. Apparently our file has started being processes on Oct 10.

I suppose we will now be waiting for the mail man!
For info: our applications was processed via the Ottawa office (we sent our application from the UK) and arrived on June 13th. So it was relatively quick I think.

I really hope that it will go fast also for everyone else waiting. It's not very pleasant to wait!

Is there Any applicant who applied from New Delhi Visa Office ?

.......... tomorrow is our 6 month wedding anniversary *bitter sweet* praying for a change in status!!! "IN PROCESS" "DECISION MADE" smthg.... uffa!!!

god bless us all!
