Hi all,
Seeing that the processing of our applications is taking longer than anticipated, I was going over the application guide (I printed it out a while ago, when I first started gathering documents for my application, about 1.5 years ago, so I do not know if the guide is still available online) to make sure nothing expires in my application. We all know that our language test results are valid for 2 years and medicals are good for a year. What I was more interested in and looking for specifically was the requirement regarding the validity of work experience. What I found is this:
"All applicants must have:
- acquired at least 12 months of full-time (or the equivalent in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in occupations that fall under Skill Type 0, or Skill Type A or B of the National Occupational Classificaion (NOC);
- obtained the required work experience within the 36 months preceding the date their application is received."
My interpretation of this is that, once gained, our work experience stays with us. That is to stay that so long as we have the above-mentioned one year of work experience when we first filed our applications -- no matter how long ago it was, for most of us it is about 1.5 years and counting -- that is all that matters. So it's not like we need to keep it current (in case anyone decides to go back to school or move abroad for work). Many people, as I see on this forum, even leave the country and move back home.
Any thoughts on this?
