Just received the PPR letter on my GC key.

Ayyyy, congrats mate! Yours FD was Nov 7th yeah? Mine is Nov 17th and COPR number is now visible. Hopefully I’ll get mine soon.

Congrats on the FD.

Normally people receive their PPRs within 2 weeks. But in some cases it has taken more than a month. Once PPR is received, based on your situation, the next dilemma you might face is when to book tickets for flight (incase you are an outland applicant). Normally it is advised to book you tickets once you get your stamped passports and COPR back. Issue is if you wanna fly within a month and a half, then you might have to take a risk and book early to avoid price rise with tickets. Within a week itself the prices tend to rise by 10-20k Indian Rupees (CAD $20-300) for tickets.

For people who have not travelled a lot via flights, there is something called transit visa. You might have to pay a certain fee and take a transit visa to spend time in the airports of some countries during lay overs. This mainly applies to USA. Just check on that too if you were not aware.

Also, if you have a driving license, then you can exchange your driving license depending on which province you have decided to migrate to. Of course, you will have to go through some tests and pass them to get your provincial license.

Most Indians have old laminated license which might not be accepted by all Driving License Centers. In that case you shall apply for new smart license which is accepted along with DL extract (sealed and signed by RTO).

Hahaha! Reading this post made my day! Yeah, maybe we’ll cross paths and not even know we’ve waited anxiously together for the exact same thing.
About the flights, I think I’ll book them once I get my passport stamped.
Yeah, I was planning on taking the direct flight from Delhi to Toronto so then there’s no hassle about transit visa.
Ooooh, thanks about the driving license dude! Mines the old laminated DL. Gotta change that too. I’ll check out the thread you tagged.

A week before the flight or a few weeks before it, prices are usually 2x for tickets. Although, they get cheaper 24 hours before the flight - but that's too risky to rely upon as a strategy.

I literally lost a relative on Air Canada as they refused to land during emergency and would rather pay $250k fine as defined by the shitty Montreal Aviation Convention - they flew 9+ hours while my relative suffered multiple heart attacks and refused to land.

That case aside, generally those airlines (Air India and Air Canada) are pretty crap tbh. Book KLM, Lufthansa, British Airways, etc with a layover of 4-6 hours with no change of aiport and you should be fine.

Woah, I had no clue those airlines were that bad. I just wanted to avoid the hassle of having to look at transit visas and I found that the prices were a lot cheaper. Around 80kish.

Depends what you mean by waiting - what's your current status?

I would assume a lot of July AORs don't have PPR yet - my AOR was 1 Jul and I only received it a little over a week ago.

Yeah, that's a little slow on the BGC, but I guess you had a request for a remedical so obviously that could have delayed everything. Hard to compare with other Jul AORs when there are additional requests involved, but FWIW you're still well within SLA limits.

Is there any specific reason why they requested a remedical?
I understand that the delay is due to the BIL, which took almost 4 months to be sent. During this time, my background check was pending, awaiting the biometrics.
Do you think my background check is currently in IP2, where it states, 'We are processing your background check'?
Could this delay be considered a red flag for security screening?
