I don’t think that’s the case anymore. Maybe it used to be, but things have definitely gotten stricter. The province used to renew driver’s licenses just based on your application that you applied and they’d give you an expiry date two years out. But now, that’s changed—you can only get a license under implied status once and for 1 year only. After that, unless you have valid documentation, they won’t renew it at all.

I don't think they'll let you apply for health card until you have a physical copy of your work permit

My health card got expired and sowp extension is in progress and i hve work authorization letter
And for PR file i have eligibility letters for both and pre arrival letter also can i renew it with these documents or no????

All you need is AIP from your PR application, and proof of address. They should give you one year from the AIP letter. This is how we got ours

They will renew your health card if you have AIP. I've done it. You don't need a work permit as long as you have AIP.

before P2 did you get any ghost update? Also for Photo how did you use? Can use the same photo for initial PR application or you clicked a new one?

You can apply for an extension of one year health card if you have the AOR for PR application. For confirmation you can call them. But I think you will get an extension for one year for sure.

Not sure about "renewing", but I got my first OHIP card from my AIP letter ( without any eCOPR or work permit/employment certificate - I am the PA, though). Not all ServiceOntario know about this. You have to go to the big, big one or ask and make an appointment first before you go.

Once this 1-year health card expires can we renew it somehow? Has anybody done that already or looked into that?

My wife is pregnant so renewing her health-card 1 more year during process would make a big difference financially

FYI. My wife got hers with the AIP practically demanding that they checked the conditions. The lady in the counter initially said the AIP letter wasn't enough and we should come back when we had completed the process.. after a while she went inside to ask someone else and came back and told us the AIP letter was good.

There was one ghost update after 2 weeks of P1.
For the photo, we took new photo as it says photos must be less than 12 months old. Also when you upload the photo, it will ask if the photo was taken by a professional or not, if a digital copy was given or you scanned the hard copy

I dont remember exactly. But from P1 to p2, it will take about a month
