July 2024 - Citizenship Application

Hi Guys,

A query regarding the query 'During your 5-year eligibility period, did you have a valid temporary resident status before becoming a permanent resident?' I came on a Work Permit which had a validity from March 2020 to December 2021. My Organization proactively filed for a Work Permit extension in Feb 2021 and I got a new Work Permit which had validity from March 2021 till Feb 2023. I got my PR in November 2021.

I want to know that do I have to mention the details of all these Work Permits in this query? If yes, should I say that my Status was valid from March 2020 till 28 Feb 2021 and then again from 1st March 2021 till Nov 2021 when I got my PR? Your help here is highly appreciated.

Thanks for your response. For sake of clarity, giving you my complete details:
1st Work Permit: Valid from 3rd March 2020 till 2nd Dec 2021
2nd Work Permit (raised well before expiry of 1st by the company): Valid from 1st March 2021 till 28 Feb 2023.
PR Received: 20th November 2021

If you could please help with what I should fill for the following questions:
1. Temporary Resident Status: For this the answer is 'Temporary Foreign Worker'
2. Date you received the status: The answer is '3rd March 2020'
3. Date your status expired: This is where my confusion begins. What should be the answer for this? Will it be 20th Nov 2021 when I received my PR? Or will it be 28 Feb 2021 because on that day my 1st Work Permit expires and the validity of my 2nd Work Permit starts. I feel the correct answer will be 20th Nov 2021. But, if in case as per you its 28 Feb 2021, then I will have to provide answers to the below further questions:

Did you apply to extend your status?

Date you applied to extend your status

Was the extension approved?

Expiry date of extended status

Please guide.

Here is how you it would be:

1. Temporary Resident Status: 'Temporary Foreign Worker'
2. Date you received the status: '3rd March 2020'
3. Date your status expired: '19th Nov 2021'

The temporary status expires the previous day of when you receive PR status.

Hello guys

It lets you create the tracker after 2 business days from AOR. IRCC is a little slow, they will send the email in about 1-2 weeks to create the tracker account (expect an automated email even though you already created the tracker)
