Hi! I haven't been able to link my OWP application, even tho I already liked the PR application to my account and know the process.. It still says they dont find my owp app.. what should I do? is there any trick to do it? thanks :)
What's your timeline? It seems you have to wait 3-5 days after AOR to be able to link it. How long has it been? Hopefully when you try again it works.

I did my Medical on 27th October. On November 8th, my profile got updated and it shows medical passed. I did my medical from 2065 FINCH AVENUE WEST
Hie, is there any change in your background, mine still shows not applicable even after passing medical. Thanks.

Same with me. It still shows Not Applicable. Not sure, if it's going to change or remain like this for a couple of months.

OK I was able to link the OWP application today, but I applied by paper and it shows it as: application type: online application. Is that normal? thank you!!

Yes, that is normal. I linked my paper application and it also says the same thing, and other people have reported the same.

Just an update, my background check started yesterday. NB: I didn't submit a police certificate cos I've been in Canada as a student since i was 18.
Here is my timeline:

Inland - PR and OWP
Application sent - July 15
Received - July 16
OWP Received - shows July 9 (After linking on CIC)
AOR received - Aug 18
OWP Approved - Oct 17
Medical passed - Oct 24 (I had done my medical upfront and submitted it with the application)
Background check updated- November 13. It says "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information".

Does anyone know how long it takes for the background check to be over with?? Will PCC or fingerprints still be requested?

How did you know the background check had started? Did you get a message in your account or you just randomly checked?

The background check is the longest portion of your application. Probably a few months. Fingerprints won't be requested. Your application was received before biometrics were required, and you also applied inland, and inland applicants are exempt until 2019. About PCC they will request it only if they feel the need, but probably won't if you haven't had extensive stays in other countries.

I didn't get a message in my account, i just randomly checked yesterday morning and noticed that the current status area changed from submitted to "status/profile update"... And i found the background check as processing... And thanks for the information, really appreciate. Now the waiting begins....

Hi, anyone has the idea, Inland applicant stay over 2 years in Canada needs the police certificate of Canada? or just need the one in home country?

I hadn't checked my cic account in a few days and it was updated in two sections:

1. Review of additional documents: Now states "We need additional documents to process your application. We will send you a letter or email with details."
2. Background check: Now States "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information."

I'm slightly annoyed that additional documents might be required, pushing our timeline down. Likely, we made a mistake somewhere. Fingers crossed it's nothing too burdensome.

If memory serves me right, don't they require a police check for Canada if you've lived here more than 6 months?

So by the time CIC request the Police certificate, they will send two requesting documents (one for local, one for overseas) to work on the certificate?

Hello,

I am new here, my husband is Canadian and we applied for my sponsorship visa in July through an immigration lawyer. It is an inland application but we both reside in my country, his job allows him to work remotely and at least we can be together . The lawyer sent us an email on Nov 9th (4months later) that he received an acknowledgment letter for the opening of the file. Is that the same as the term AOR I have seen?

I want to apply for a visiting visa next year, to visit his family, what are the chances of me getting the visa or there is no point and its better to wait for the spousal visa answer?
What are the next steps after they view the file? Do they ask for more documents or we wait for an interview? since it is an inland application and we are in another country, will we have to travel to Canada for the interview then?

Perhaps someone else can better chime in on this. We sent our police certificate with our initial application. I would imagine that is the case, but don't know.
