Hard to answer this one because i dont know how their system works. For my particular situation, my wife got an email about PPR and i got an email because i was registered to mycic. MyCic sent me an email because there was an update.

Hi all

I finally realised that my background check changed today to " In progress" after six months waiting!!Im close to be finalised, am i?
Thanks

I need some help everyone, Im super stressing out... All was going good with our application until 3 months ago they asked for Police Clearance to be sent again due to my wife needed her old middle name added to the AKA section of the police clearance. We did this and sent it but a new fee was added to the process the day before it was sent so they returned it 1 month later and asked to have her resend it with proper fee and with the request letter they sent her. We did as they asked and sent the fee and the documents they wanted. And then no up date for almost 2 months on our CIC Online Service... I never seen them update that background check was taking place or approved. She got an email about "Get help before arriving in Canada – Pre-arrival services" after they got the package but that was it. Today I checked and under "Permanent Residence Application Status" It says "Decision Made".... is this good or bad??? do they always post updates if they are checking the Background Police Clearances or did they just forget to post updates??? So stressed out right now....

That's good news!!! From the research I did in past threads, a Decision Made (DM) 99% of the time means you have been approved (I did not see ANY Refusals with a Decision Made to be honest so it probably is 100%). Depending on your Visa Office (VO) and your Visa Status, you will either receive the PPR (passport request) next or a COPR if you are a US Citizen. With PPR you mail in your passport for the visa, with COPR you can just use that to "Land". This takes anywhere from 1-4 weeks to process but some VO take up to 8 weeks. In general though, you should hear something in the next few week! USUALLY this is via physical mail, but some VO send it via email. ECAS and MyCIC do not always sync properly. Some get a DM on their ECAS, some on MyCIC, and some never see any updates and just get their PPR/COPR instead. The background police clearance does not always update for everyone and from what I have seen for most it just remains in-process. So either way, congrats, you're pretty much done now!

That's good! That's the final step before a decision made/approval status! It can take anywhere from 1-8 weeks now to get a decision made depending on your VO and your own background check. Congrats!

Here are the two options that worked for most people:

Use application number, place of birth, and # of applicants as 2 (include YOURSELF AND Your sponsor in this. If children/dependants, add to it. But minimum should be 2).
Another one that worked for some people is Last name, place of birth and # of applicants as "2". Personally I did the first one (using application number). Keep in mind application number is NOT the UCI/Client ID.
