Definitely a good sign. Took them a bit over a week to approve our application once I was able to log into ecas. So expect something very soon.

Oh well that makes me feel better about everything then.

Hi Everyone... I sent my application to Mississuaga on July 9,2012. It was finlly processed in late September requesting my conjungal partner to have a medical done. My spouse is Alabanian born but Italian PR so this has mde it quite difficult. We initially apllied for a tourist visa at the Rome Embassy in June,2012 ans he was denied. We were shocked he could nto just visit. This was the beginning of our immigration story. I was born in Hong Kong and immigrated with my parents when I was a little girl so I have the uptmost confidence in our government in protecting it's citizens. I therefore, respect them from denying my spouse the tourist visa.

Meanwhile, we are just waiting. I called David Cohen initially but decided to take on the application process on my own. With one trip to Italy and one to Albania, I have managed to do well but it's alot of work on your own. I definitely recommend a laywer if it is complicated and you have more than one person being sponsored.

Please fell free to send me your comments !! :D

Today was my first post here in this forum... Guess what? I went to the post office today and received my letter of approval. I made it throught the first stage, qualifying for sponsorship. The hardest part is wiating for the Embassy in Rome to make the final deision. Are the applicatio times on CIC site accurate? Can it really take up to 14 months? It is their priority to reunite families!! I just keep praying. Does anyone have some happy stories with the length of time fter stage 1 is complete?

Hi wongchild,
Yes, Rome VO can take up to 14 months: 80% of cases get processed by that time, many get processed before and some unfortunately get processed after.
I did a search for 'Rome' threads and saw someone who applied in June 2011 and received their Visa 9 months later, so I guess that was 7 months for stage 2 for them. I also saw that someone got their stage 2 processed after 2 months (must have been lucky!), so it really all depends. Hopefully yours will be on the shorter side of time. The most frustrating thing would be lack of communication with the VO , as I think Rome VO is not too efficient at responding to queries. Good-luck!
