Ok, cheers again! I'll have a look for the London thread....PR before xmas, now that would be a lovely christmas present!!

Hi All,

Great news for us! I received a letter via snail mail dated September 28th approving me as a sponsor! The letter came from Ottawa as opposed to Mississauga so I guess that's why I'm a bit behind?

Anyways, thanks for all the works of encouragement and for updating the spreadsheet bagelbagel!!

jerry, I think it all depends on the individual. I didn't use one as my case was very straight forward - but I have heard both positive and negative things about using them (neg: costs involved, and taking extra time to correspond between the CIC and the lawyer back to yourself, pos: ensuring all the forms are filled out and signed correctly, preventing getting your application sent back, dealing with complicated situations regarding previous marriages, dependents etc.)

Jenna- totally! I am hoping for a Christmas present, but having said that don't want to get my hopes up- as sometimes there is no rhyme or reason as to why some people's applications are processed more slowly (complicated cases aside). As long as you keep in mind the website says 8 months, then having limited contact with the VO shouldn't be a problem.

That's great news captaincanada! Was hoping you had received approval - will update the spreadsheet.

I am hoping Prithiv has also received some good news!

Does getting a lawyer really makes a difference? I don't know, I already got one and submitted my app on 31st July 2012 so I have my fingers crossed!

We got a lawyer because there were potential red flags in our case. Apart from dealing with those I think the advantage of hiring a lawyer would be a familiarity with the various offices and how to deal with them, how they prefer evidence presented, etc.

Cheers bagel!

Any idea how long the next step will take?

No idea how long it will take, but my lawyer did pass this on

"The next correspondence we will receive is the AOR (Acknowledgement of Receipt) from the CPP-O, which will provide you with a file number. Please note that it usually takes approximately 2 – 4 months to receive this, so you should expect news regarding the next stage no later than end of February 2013."

So that's an idea when to expect to hear more...

Hi is there any one who sent their application package
To Mississauga around mid of july but still didn't get
Any communication from cpc-m?

Is cpc-o also sending AOR for stage 1 regardless the fact that
You sent your application to Mississauga?

The website says they are working on applications received on 26th July 2012. So lets just wait! Thank you for the feedback guys!

Congrats JimM, can I ask which address did they send it to, your mailing address or your residential address? I wrote down 2 addresses on my application, I just wondering which one they will send it to. Thanks.

My AOR came from Ottawa too on Oct 2. Some must have been sent there to catch up.

I received my AOR in my Junk email from Ottawa-Pilot. Make sure you are checking there.
