Joint Bank/Financial Accounts and how it affects your application

What banks in Canada offer joint accounts abroad? My bank has told me my spouse has to reside in Canada and it's the same with other stuff like names on land title,utility bills etc. Without status in Canada how can you use joint accounts a proof of relationship? HSBC, I heard has joint accounts between Canada and overseas but requires a healthy minimum balance. How are joint anything possible if each live in different countries?

You can have foreign HSBC bank account open while you are in your home country. This include joint accounts. Check with HSBC!

If the spouses live in different countries, then certain types of financial evidence would not be expected - like joint utility bills, both names on a lease, etc.
You could still get other types of financial evidence: naming each other as beneficiaries on insurance and in wills, for example. For young couples, though, the visa officer won't be surprised if you don't have it.

I know at my husband's appeal the judge pretended to be surprised that my husband wasn't named in my will and life insurance. The fact that I have neither didn't seem to be a sufficient explanation for her.

i am still residing in the uk, but we didn't encounter any problems opening a joint account...

to mittens how do u have a joint bmo account where both u n your wife canadian resident at 1 point or did u both visited canada at 1 point i ask as i also bank with bmo and would like to name my SO on my account
