Hi Farsxp,
This might be a bit off-topic, but you seem to have a solid understanding of immigration processes. I recently had my LPP completed in my citizenship application and am now just waiting for the Oath ceremony. However, my PR card recently expired, and I’m unsure whether I need to renew it before the Oath. Do you happen to know if that’s necessary?

Thanks so much in advance!
If you do not plan to travel in the near future, there is no immediate concern. However, the time between the LPP stage and the oath ceremony can vary significantly. It may be very short or take several months, and there is no way to predict it. If it takes a long time and God forbid, an emergency arises requiring your travel outside Canada, returning with an expired PR card could be difficult. In such a situation, you would need to apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD).

But your PR card is still good until you take the oath, no? So if you need to travel between LPP and oath, in the worst case you could just postpone the oath. It won't be ideal but needs must sometimes.

Slightly odd question, after I submitted my application in early January, they requested a PCC from my home country. They shouldn't have requested or needed one but I can only assume they did so because they know easy it is to get one from my country of origin.

They then requested FP's from me which I did.

Both were provided months ago however my application has been stuck in BG and Test completed and LPP pending for > 1 month.

They confirmed they had my PCC prior to the due date via a web ticket response.

However, the application tracker still shows this message.

Send us additional information

Waiting on you
You need to submit additional information.

  • We sent you a letter or email asking for additional information.
  • Follow the letter or email’s instructions to continue with your application.

I've ignored this message for the past couple of months because I assumed it was just left over from when they needed the PCC/FP however my application now appears to have completely stalled.

Does anyone know if this is normal for applications where PCC, FP, or other documents are requested but LPP is still pending?

They are unfortunately (across all kinds of apps) terrible at updating these fields on the trackers - sometimes they just don't do it until a subsequent stage or even the very end.

I wouldn't blame you for calling and checking but probably not necessary.

Thanks, I thought that was likely to be the case. I'll probably just leave it for now and maybe submit a ticket if nothing has still changed in a few weeks or so.

They confirmed they had received the PCC I uploaded via a web ticket ages ago and the FP request was done through the Commissionaires place and, presumably, the RCMP.

Same scenario. FP was provided March 1st.
Last status on tracker portal is as of March 18th for Test completed.
BG and LPP is in progress.

I should have noted, a few cases have come up here of the FP results 'not getting' to IRCC, or not being sent properly, or whatever. I'd be more inclined to check the FP status. Esp since your PCC was received.

I don't recall what they did, called RCMP or IRCC or what exactly.

OK thank you. I can submit a ticket later today and ask if they have received everything they need.

Still nothing since March 22.

What's the number to call the IRCC and the process to get into the queue? I think I should call them to ask them what's up. Just in case.

For your LPP completed: was the tracker updated on the 25th or is that the date shown in the list? There's usually a 2 day difference between the 2, just wondering which date you are reporting.

Thanks to everyone for responding to my question earlier today. I have submitted a ticket through the webform today and I'll confirm here when I hear anything back. Hopefully the message suggesting their still waiting for further documents from me is just a misnomer.

My tracker was actually updated April 29th,
Same with mine, but I'm still waiting for ceremony to go to "In Progress" and for the invitation email. Was yours a single application? There are 6 of us and I'd indicated I want the minors to attend as well so I guess that might affect how quickly we get slots.
