If you do not plan to travel in the near future, there is no immediate concern. However, the time between the LPP stage and the oath ceremony can vary significantly. It may be very short or take several months, and there is no way to predict it. If it takes a long time and God forbid, an emergency arises requiring your travel outside Canada, returning with an expired PR card could be difficult. In such a situation, you would need to apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD).Hi Farsxp,
This might be a bit off-topic, but you seem to have a solid understanding of immigration processes. I recently had my LPP completed in my citizenship application and am now just waiting for the Oath ceremony. However, my PR card recently expired, and I’m unsure whether I need to renew it before the Oath. Do you happen to know if that’s necessary?
Thanks so much in advance!
