my wife has completed all her tasks and is now waiting on either an interview or the stamping of pr. Can she work in a different country now that all the formalities are completed? She is really becoming fed up of staying at home doing nothing.

Looks like my wife just got COPR! I will update the tracker with this info asap, but I do have a few questions, hoping someone can confirm.

1) She is American, currently staying with me in Canada as a visitor, so my understanding is she doesn't need to send her original passport, but just a copy of the photo page (we did include this in the original application, but guessing this is needed again)?
2) It asks for 2 photos of the PA, but we also included as per the original application, confused as to the purpose of these photos (again).
3) Once we have received the PR documents from IRCC, is it safe to drive over to the US for the day (or more) and cross back into Canada to get her PR? Does it matter which border crossing we go through?

Thanks for all the assistance/responses provided!

1. If she got COPR you're done. Do you mean PPR? If yes she needs a copy.
2. You need to do them again as part of PPR.
3. Yes, she would land upon re entry. Does not matter which crossing.

The letter from CIC mentions that the processing of the application is almost complete and that we have to send the aforementioned with a prepaid return envelope for them to issue the Confirmation of Permanent Residence.
It states that if you're from the US that you need to provide a photocopy of the photo page and any amendments (what are considered amendments?) of the passport, 2 photos, all in a prepaid return envelope so they can send back the PR documentation.

Has the process changed (ie: that they now need a photocopy of the passport, but not the original?), or have I misunderstood what you said?

Thanks.

I don't believe there was any issue with the original photos included as the letter we received today was generic in that it just said we need to include 2 photos meeting their standards. We did those late last year just before we submitted the application, so confused why we need them again.
Sorry, what do you mean by flagpole on US border?

Thanks.

The process has not changed. Getting the 2 new pictures again is part of the PPR process. You do not have COPR yet - this is the step that will get you the COPR.

Flagpoling means you cross the US border and turn right back around only for the purpose of landing. It sounds like you're planning on making a trip out of it, either are fine.

ok but take with you 2 for just in case.
you can say it to officer on the border they know and you even don't need to enter US(just the border though) if you don't want to. It could be a day trip depending on where you live.

Understood, I guess this is the PPR rather than COPR, which also means the photocopy rather than the original in this context.
Thanks for your responses and for explaining flagpoling.
