An email system is automated. I was getting emails as late as 9 p.m. So, don't relax every day after 5 p.m., you still can get an email a few hours later

But there should be some kind of trigger to that automated message just wondering

No. Just think about a queue of emails. Officers are working on applications, adding emails into their system. But those emails are not being sent immediately, but say 10 per minute. All of them will be sent today, but at different times. This is done to help to unload the system, not to stress it during work hours.

There's another case though. Everything I was talking about above was more for eCAS and not-urgent emails. But when a MyCIC account is updated with a new message, then an email is usually sent immediately.

It might be country specific, but at least in some countries you can mail a passport to VFS office for sure. Just call them or write them (some or all of them have an online chat) and ask that question. Usually you just need to pay all the fees, attach a receipt to a letter with your passport and go to a courier service. You also need to pay a delivery back, but this should be done with VFS and not with a courier you're sending your passport.

Yeah, I already sent an email to VFS. But I have to wait for the response until next week as they are already closed for the weekend. Does anyone else knows if its possible to mail the passport to VFS in India?

These updates specially on January applicants just give so much happiness.

If my partner were from visa exempt country or could anyway be living here with me, I wouldn’t have cared at all about immigration process and would have never discovered one of these forums.

It just gives you so much happiness when you imagine people will be reuniting soon if not you just yet.

Not sure my file is been handled by representative lawyer & she doesn't update until there is any requirement email from IRCC
Is there any way to check online with application or UCI number?

I have the same situation, I mean I have a lawyer and the last time I asked him about any update on my application I got the same answer as you did! But I found a way lol! On cic.gc.ca website when you go to check my application, it will ask you what did you apply for? After answering that it takes you to the next page that you see “online tools” and you just need to know the applicant: uci number, family name, date of birth and the Outland country. I was afraid to check it first because I thought my lawyer might get notified, but seems that he didn’t as he didn’t call me last few days. Lol

Unfortunately u have to go in person to submit the passport. Good thing is that passport will be returned via courier. This is what we had to do for our parents pr earlier this year.

Same here. And the prices … same excuse. Obviously someone can't see the difference between Canada and the US, or they group us all together when it comes to immigration medical costs. Anyway frustrating, as you say, when you expect to pay one amount and have to pay much more.

I also didn't hear from IRCC today (their deadline) about my step daughter's medical form name change, so have to follow up on that one tomorrow too.

clearly, I called in ahead of time to get the prices and see if we could afford it, thankfully i was there while we got the emails and i had enough money to get all of it done. ofcourse we were left with no money for my trip but this was much more important. lol

yes! for sure call them and get it for your own records, and if it helps, send a webform to see if theres any reaction. it helped in my case!

they sent us an additional information req. today regarding my husband RCMP criminal record check. but he is in India right now. How he can get it thou?Is it possible to get it in India?Thanks

You need to notify CIC about address change. It won't affect your application though.
But if you've already done this on ecas and you can now see the new address there, then it's done, no more actions required.

On eCAS it would only let me change an address if it was a Canadian address. I sent a web form about his address in Australia just to be safe.
