Hey a few people have told me the processing was only 4-6 months long this past year? How did it go to a full year? Thank you.

One year is for overseas applicants. Four to six months is for American applicants.

The ~12m you see on the website is just a general guideline. The US applicants are still being processed within 4-6months.

Processing time depends on your visa office and on how simple or complex your case is. If I recall correctly, the stated time on CIC's website for a VO is for 80% of applications to be processed. The lower times people post around here are what you'll see based what is happening for many people, but not all.

Ottawa, for example, processes most Americans in 4-6 months. But there are some cases that take longer (I saw someone from March today who still hasn't gotten approval yet) and sometimes faster (there were a couple people from the September thread who got approved in very early December). The best way to get an idea of how long it's going to take for you is to continue to follow the spreadsheet for your month (and, really, the surrounding months), and pay attention to the people who have the same visa office as you to see what those trends are, and find specific threads dedicated to your VO/country.

The stated processing times online are to complete 80% of all cases, not the average case. Straightforward ones from developed countries are frequently completed in 4-6 months.

There's a new system designed to unify all the 80% targets at 12 months, so everyone's visa office has been reset to that. Before that, some were 10 months, 14 months, 20 months, etc. As time goes on, they will probably adjust again to reflect what's actually being achieved (but will still be for 80%, not average).

Good news, very happy for you!... On my side, I still didn't manage to link it with my CIC account. Though i found it on ECAS.

Do you think i should contact them for technical errors?
