I hope so for you, but I'm afraid that Mexico VO will take a lot longer than this.

Hoping because my application is as simple as it could be that is not the case. But nothing is in our hands! Just hoping to have my hubby in Canada by August! We will see I guess!

Got AOR2 today and they did not request additional documents! YAY!

Now, more waiting but it sure is nice to know that things are progressing.

I hope that everyone else who is waiting will hear something soon as well.

;D

Wow that's awesome! Congratulations! I was under the impression, obviously mistakenly, that NDVO wasn't a fast office. Is under 4 months normal or are the speeding up?

Hi everyone,

So, turns out that VO Sao Paulo asks me for a Brazilian Police Certificate. And said that they noted I intent to get married in a couple of month, so I need to advise my new marital status and send them a marriage certificate.

1. Why are they asking me for a Brazilian Police Certificate if I live in Vancouver for 6 YEARS! Should I just send it or should I ask why? When I was gathering the documents it says that if you leave in Canada for more than 6 month, this document is not required. Thoughts?

2. Based on what they said about my wedding, I believe that I will not get MD until after I send them my marriage certificate. So, a good 3-4 more months for me!

CONGRATS FOR THOSE WHO GOT THEIR DREAM HAPPENED!!! GO FAMILIES!

Hi again,

How should I send extra documents or missing documents?

Do I need to send with a checklist? The document they asked me was the Brazilian Police Certificate. Where can I find instructions to send this comment?

Thank you

Hey,

I'm not 100% of the rules and such, but what I do know is that my wife has been in Canada for 4 years, AND were applying through France with a Spanish citizenship.. But because she lived in Venezuela for 1 year after her 18th birthday, they required a Venezuelan police certificate.

They basically said anywhere you've lived after your 18th birthday requires a police check, again I'm not sure if that's for everyone, but that's what happened to us.

Hope that helps a little!

You are required to send a police letter from any country you have lived for 6 months or more after age 18. This is true for everyone regardless of where you are currently living or for how long. Here is a link on how to get it http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/central-south-amer/brazil.asp

That is unfortunate if they would make you wait until after you can provide the marriage certificate to approve you. Seems silly if you applied under common-law and provided sufficient proof for that. Good luck!

Yeah, I misunderstood that when completing my documents. anyways, I got the document now and sending Immediately.

Here is what they wrote regarding the civil status:

"We noted that you intend on getting married within the next couple of months. Kindly advise this office immediately if you change marital status, and send a copy of the marriage certificate, as your file will have to be updated."

So, is there any way I can avoid them to hold my decision because of that?

Thank you.

Thank you Jmcrizzle,

I was going through my documents and saw I send them a letter explaining why I was not sending a Canadian one. I completely misunderstood that requirement. I guess it was the rush or the exhaustion of filling out and rechecking it all. It happens.

Anyways. I got the doc they need and I am sending it right now!

Good luck to you too!!

Hi! We have almost the same timeline :)

From what I can tell, yes, they would have requested any missing documents with that email so I am really hoping to be in the clear as well. From looking at other timelines, it is about two months for the passport request so fingers crossed for us all with the MCVO!
