Fingerprints - won't be a problem for sure.
Medicals - not too sure, but considering it's something that is usually requested for other types of applications, it probably won't be a big deal. Normally, I would recommend mailing the form the doctor will give you as evidence of having done medicals but where they want the original, it's a risk to mail it without a file #. Do you have a client ID #?

Our application was sent initially without a copy of our marriage certificate. :o When we found out, our lawyer sent another package within a week and I'm guessing it got there just fine since we have sponsor approval.

Thanks for the reply! Makes me feel a lot better :) I have not gotten a client ID # yet because I have not gotten an AOR from CPC-M or sponsor approval yet. I assume I can get the doctor's office to send a copy to CPC-M anyway, on thursday!

Yes, certainly ask the doctor to do that. If you have ever applied for a visitor visa(TRV), work or study permit, you should already have a Client ID #(or UCI) - an eight digit number like so 1234-5678

Wow... since Feb 3rd and it hasn't arrived. Mine hasn't arrived yet.

Update: I called the CIC call centre(Tel: 1-888-242-2100) and was told I am approved as sponsor and application sent to Dakar, Senegal. So SA = Feb 12th. :D Woot!!! Now the waiting begins.

Good for you! I'll call tomorrow. Since mine is almost the same timeline as yours, its probably the same guy working on it whose maybe a bit unorganized!

Do you think it would be okay to call to check on the status of AOR or should I wait until it's been 34 days? The website says not to call unless it has passed the current processing times. I hate waiting. LOL!

It doesn't hurt to try.. People who sent theirs after yours have received AOR! I have heard that some of the call centre people don't even know what an AOR is so you might have to try a couple times! :D

Well that was useless. I called and they said they are working on apps from Jan 10th, 2014. I told her that that was what it said last week. She checked via my receipt # and there is nothing. For anyone else that has called...how did they check on the status of your app? Can they pull it up by name???? I just want to make sure they have received it as Canada Post could not give 100% confirmation as it was sent to P.O. and was not scanned in. GRRRRRRRR.

Did you use the regular parcel service of Canada Post? I used the Expresspost and I got the delivery confirmation even if it was P.O. Box. Half the price of Fedex and same delivery time from Montreal to Mississauga, that was a good choice.

No. I sent it priority courier through Canada Post. The Canada Post official ASSURED me that it was not a courier service so I mailed it to the P.O. Box. I sure hope everything works out okay. :(

Interesting looking in preceding applicant group threads. NOV 2013 for example: one person's process shows as receiving visa & landing in TWO MONTHS! VO is Colombo. Can that really happen? If yes can CIC send some of those super efficient officers over to Manila :) SA's for Manila applicants in NOV were 'normal' (a month give or take), but none of the four show an AOR from VO yet, though I guess that's not too out of the norm. BTW, far more posts on this thread already than NOV's...yay JAN 2014 cohort!

We have discussed this before, and a logical conclusion was that they handpick a few every now and then for fast tracking just to keep average processing times down. Just a few make a significant difference on overall average processing times.

So, it's a lottery

Wow, didn't know I entered a lottery! Kind of like police & speeding tickets I guess :) Good article in the Toronto Star yesterday about CIC & Family Class process, a few anecdotes presented & some stats....about 16% of applications in 2010 were refused -- of those that then appealed about 60% were successful. So the "success rate" is 84%, pretty decent I suppose.

In London it was 98% last year

I think it depends on the workload of VO also. I saw a timeline of like 4 months all-in-all in another thread for the Sydney Australia VO.
If I remember correctly, I also saw on the English speaking Manila thread someone that got his visa in like 5 months. But that one is suspected of have benefit from the faster Hayan typhoon processing even if he never asked for it.
