I don't think they issue an AOR before sending it back. As they have a system to work after an officer will have his list and if an application number isn't in the pile there'll be confusion. Therefore only give an AOR for an app that can be worked on. They aren't allowed, I think, to do anything without the applicants consent, meaning the signature.

So what I am saying, they would have received an AOR that day, instead the received an email abt missing signatures

That makes total sense, I just hadn't thought of it that way. I thought the officer just picked up the package next in line, opened it up, and if it was complete, handed out an AOR, if not, they'd send it back without an AOR. I didn't know someone else looked at it when it arrives to make sure it's complete even before the officer gets it!

Exactly. They never got an AOR. Instead they got their WHOLE application back in the mail and had to resend everything with the one signature.

I just received an email from CIC Mississauga today @ 11:51 AM EST.

Its got the UCI and file number with the following message:

"This refers to the Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class you submitted to this office on
behalf of [My Wife's Name] and family (if applicable).
Please be advised that a person who has the right to Canadian citizenship cannot be sponsored. As
it appears that you held Canadian Citizenship status at the time that your child was born outside of
Canada, your child may be eligible for Canadian Citizenship. Visit www_cic_gc_ca for information on
how to apply for citizenship for your child.
As a result, the sponsorship package that you submitted is being returned to you with this letter. In
addition, a refund of all fees submitted has been initiated on your behalf and will be sent to you in
approximately six to eight weeks."

I called and they said my child's application is removed from the package. So they will only process my wife's. Couldn't logon to e-Cas with the UCI. Hopefully I'll get more updates soon.

I guess that is good news and bad news - at least it'll be easier for your child to get citizenship, but it's too bad you're getting delayed with returning the application. Best of luck!

I added you to the spreadsheet Gumper. Welcome to our group of January applicants.
You and me should have the same steps since we have the same application date and the same visa office.
If you have the date your application reached CPC-M as per tracking, its the only item I miss in your entry.
Good luck to you. :D

Sorry, the application got to CIC on the 31st. Yes, looks like we're on the same schedule, hopefully we'll both get our visas say by Thanksgiving or Halloween?! OK, optimistic but gotta be positive right! Thanks for putting us on the spreadsheet....do we update it ourselves or how does that work?

Man, getting it by Thanksgiving or Halloween would be awesome! And there's a couple people that can update it, myself, Edgehead and Aniabella! If you post your updates we can add them to the spreadsheet for you :)

Thanks Zarilenth. Actually that wishful thinking for OCT may not be unreasonable, based on a few things: (1) the kind woman at the women's centre in Toronto who was very helpful answering my questions, and who has helped dozens of other people, remarked that she has been saying visas granted as quickly as 6-7 months; (2) a friend of my sister who works at CIC confirmed that they are doing their best to be more efficient in processing, she stressed the importance of a clear, organized & complete application as best way to be succesful; and finally (3) looking through this very forum, back to 2012-13 cohorts, not a definitive study but sure seemed to indicate less than a year on average (I was looking mostly for those from Philippines). So reason to hope I believe :)

OMG!!! Just when Finland wins bronze, we got our SA!!! AOR never came, funny enough... Two AOR's yesterday for the applications received on the same day as mine in Mississauga and nothing to us while I was suspecting we had forgotten smth...

MICC to go through first and then it's off to London, where the real waiting game starts :D:D:D So relieved!!!

Yes, literally received it 20 minutes ago right after the game haha! But I've noticed that ppl have been getting AOR's and SA's on Saturdays too, so those poor CIC folk are apparently sitting through their Saturdays in their office.

Haha, perfect timing eh? I'm in my office on Saturday too so I don't feel so bad for them! :p
