The main reason why people do outland rather than inland is that if your outland sponsorship application is denied, there is an appeal process. In your son's case, if he is confident that he can prove the relationship is genuine, there is no reason to not do inland application.

I can't see a good reason to do inland in this case. It takes longer. Way longer. She will have a PR faster through outland than the open work permit after stage 1 inland. Plus she will get OHIP much faster.
CIC even recommends applying outland.

As someone whose medicals have been extended before, it has nothing to do with being a "westerner"(anyone can get diseases). There are a number of factors such as:
1. if you are in Canada waiting
2. have had previous immigration medicals with no complications
3. living in a country with high rates of TB for instance - as you can see, it wouldn't matter if you are westerner or not because your location is the determining factor.
4. impossible for applicant to land before it expires, etc.

No personal experience of it, so Yes, read in other posts.
In one case they called the applicant and asked if she/he would be able to enter canada within three weeks or so, and when she said no, they just extended it for another year.

I doubt they would do the same if you come from a high risk country, then you would probably have to re-do the medical either way.
But for Westerners (is that a word?) this seems to be how it is done

Number 3. I didn't mean it to sound like only people of color could get diseases, I meant location. Sorry about my inability to write it properly.

Well, I'm a person of colour and I was born in a third world country and I can still say your point was valid. Don't feel bad. The likelihood of untreated disease is higher in certain areas of the world.

Agreed. 'Westerner' roughly equal to '1st worlder' (who may be white, black, brown, whatever). Higher disease issues in 3rd world countries is just a fact, and these countries happen to be populated mostly by 'people of color'.

I'm wishing everyone an excellent week full of good news !

Tried to update the spreadsheet but I'm unable to attach the file, perhaps the admin can. They received my medicals on 04-Mar-2014.

Your entries have been updated guys. Thank you for keeping us up-to-date.
Basketballfan, only me, Aniabella and Zarilenth can update the spreadsheet. We decided that to make sure the spreadsheet don't get messy. Thanks for your understanding.

Hi and welcome to the January applicants thread.
According to your timeline, your sponsor should have received his sponsorship approval as of now. The CIC webpage says they are processing application received on Feb 12 so you are behind schedule. You should try to contact CIC about that matter. If he included email address, he should have received that through email as well as AOR (acknowledgement of receipt) which contains the UCI (Unique client identifier) number you are looking for.

I don't see any problems in the proofs you mentioned. I included also the call log of skype in the proofs since its our principal way of communication.

You put in your timeline that you expect to land this quarter. I don't want to be killjoy but if you look at the Manila VO spreadsheet (link in my signature), you will see that they are processing now the applications filed on May-June 2013 so don't expect landing before the end of this year at best, unless you applied for the Haiyan (Yolanda) typhoon fast lane.

Thanks for all the comments and help, atleast im preparing myself not to look forward to get my visa before my meds expire.

but its seems like CiC dont have a record of my application, i tried emailing them, and calling them, according to them that they have not recieve any application yet. I dont know. but im hoping for the best/

And you are happy with that answer? If I was you I would investigate more. How did you send your application to Mississauga? You should always send your stuff using a service that provides tracking number. This way you can tell CIC you have the proof they have the package when you call.
Just for your information, the average timeline of Manila Office is 14 months according to CIC's website. Any delay is just adding more to your waiting time.

That's actually not the "average" time. That's the time that 80% of applications are done. The median (50% of applications) is going to be a little shorter. It's still true that delays will add on to the time.

True, some are receiving VISA's at 11 months.
But to avoid to many disappointments, count on closer to the posted time.(12 to 14 months)
Settle in fellow Manila applicants, is a long wait.

There is not much happening lately...
It is sad how the excitement starts disappearing ....I see it in every thread after the first 2 months...
Our VO, still has the same 15 months in processing time... :o, we couldn't imagine not hearing anything from them in the next 14 months.
Aniabella, any moment on your CSQ, right?
And Edgehead shouldn't be that far either...
Zarilenth, I read that you were having problems with the Medical Exam, sorry to hear that... but on the positive side you will have an unexpected visit!

sorry for the meaningless post... :)

Yeah its normal that the excitement is fading after 2 months since there is not much changes in status' of people after SA. All we can do is to wait.
As for me, I resent the CSQ application on March 13 after I received it back unsigned. Still waiting for it as of now.
Your post was not meaningless, I learned CIC updated the VO timelines by reading it. :)
I also read the problems of Zarilenth on the medical of her hubby. I hope everything will get right for her, shes not having an easy one.
I wonder if ama1978 finally got his SA...
