I know, I was very worried! I didn't get an IMM form from the doctor's office, but I assume they know where to send it - they said they'd send it electronically to CIC? My husband didn't tell them his visa office was Ottawa, they didn't ask!

We had the same issue - and then the clinic made several more mistakes and then we required more tests, but some people said we didn't, etc....finally, after major persistence and lots of emails and phone calls, we finally got a copy of an appropriate printout (involved the High Commission, Ottawa's medical team, etc.). We printed and submitted this print out and also wrote a note explaining the mess, since there are so many systems in play. It took a month to get it all sorted, it was quite ridiculous - all because they forgot to print out the receipt after the medical.

Congrats Zarilenth on your SA. Finally your case moved forward. Be thankful you're not dealing with one of the slowest VO *cough* Manila *cough* out there

Oh dear.. that makes me worried hah. I have the receipts of everything that my husband had done (we ended up having to go to two offices, but I think that's okay), and the one panel physicians office assured us our results would be sent to CIC. I will go and double check today!

Hi,

I guess I should introduce myself and ask that I be added to the spreadsheet. My partner and I began sending messages to each other on the Internet after he spotted my profile in June, 2007. After some months of my fears of outing myself as gay, I finally started chatting with him regularly in September of that year. We were together several times for weeks at a time, starting in April, 2008 and became very interdependent, even though he was in Florida and I was in Canada. We had talked many times about immigration but he hit a financial crisis in January, 2010, and suddenly had no option but to move in with me in Canada at the end of January, 2010.

We started the application process at that time and he's been "visiting" with me in Canada for 4 years now, but we hit many snags along the way, especially gathering evidence to prove a conjugal relationship, then changing it to a common-law partnership, almost going on welfare, etc. After a couple of processes of copying everything onto new forms (they change them so often these days), we finally got the application sent, and I've now been approved for sponsorship.

Application received (Canada Post): Feb. 3, 2014
Application received according to ECAS: Feb. 3, 2014 (We never got an AOR message or letter)
Sponsorship approval: Mar. 3, 2014
Medical done: Mar. 31, 2010

Yes, we sent away medicals that were almost 4 years old. We had no idea it was going to take so long to get the forms and evidence together. I'm sure they'll ask for a new one, but I'm going to wait until they do, because medicals are relatively expensive.

We also sent away an FBI records check from early 2010. We should probably get a new one soon, but at least there is something in there for now. We didn't need a new excuse for procrastination.

Next, we have to apply for a CSQ, but it's hard coming up with the cash for that. Living on one income for all this time has been hard. Also, I started an online business that I depend on for my income and it's extremely slow getting started, so my income is not really adequate for one person, let alone two. We will find a way somehow.

Yes, it does feel nice to finally have it sent in, and it was amazing to get the sponsorship approval a few days before we were expecting to hear anything. It now feels like this is finally becoming a reality.

Yes, the visa office is Ottawa. I was just checking the requirements for Quebec health insurance, etc., and it's kind of confusing. He might be eligible at some point if he was applying within Canada but he's not technically "in Canada" although he has been here temporarily for 4 years (except for a few weekend visits to the U.S.). There are also provisions for applications being processed in Canada, but this is being processed in Ottawa, which is technically "outside of Canada" for these purposes... I think.

Legalistic language is crazy sometimes. He's not really here even though he's physically here. It depends on who's asking. For CIC, he's only visiting and actually residing in the U.S. For income tax purposes, he's residing in Canada (although temporarily).

Oh for sure! I was at work and was shaking for like 10 minutes, haha. Now for a looooong time of wait lol.

haha only immigration will do that to you. lol CIC have been known to surprise people. Our visa office is Dakar and processing time is 23 months, except, I've just seen someone who got passport request after 10 months. Let's hope for a miracle.
