Ouch!! Haha well you do that.. Not sure if I'd be welcome at all anymore then. Yes, I already regret going the inland way when I could have chosen Outland ages ago!! Fail on my hand for sure lol :D

Don't worry, my husband and I completely misunderstood CIC's website (the old website). We could've applied a good year ago. We're dummies.

Haha ouch that's a very unfortunate thing to do, but my better half and I definitely both agreed that saying things are quick n easy is an understatement! I was ready to throw bombs, but that's me I easily get bent out of shape and then things turn ugly.. I don't know how many times while filling out my applications I would have to go outside and take a deeeeeeep breath! :D

You're updated. As far as sponsorship approval, maybe. I was hoping to get mine fast and I'm still waiting :(

FINALLY! We sent in the application yesterday and I received a UPS tracking notification that it arrived in Mississauga this morning - that was fast!! My Canadian husband is sponsoring me, and I am applying via out land and plan to live in Vancouver.

My medicals were done in Vancouver on January 8th.

Now...the waiting game...

PS - I had no issues crossing the border back into Canada as a souse a week ago - I explained I was visiting my husband, and the officer asked if I was applying for PR. I said yes, we were gathering the paperwork together, and he said "great!" I think its always the US border officials that give us the most trouble :P

ALLY06 - are you going to visit your husband the entire time you're waiting for PR or are you traveling back and forth? Our timelines are very similar. I (American) currently go back and forth every month but my husband is getting antsy and would like me to visit him while we wait. I too get the most grief from the US agents. I've never had a Canadian agent ask if we were in the process or ask for paperwork.

I plan on staying in Canada during the process as a visitor. We have our (better late than never) honeymoon planned for the end of the month so our plan is to travel there together and then I would return back to Vancouver with him. I don't plan on crossing anytime soon after that, but will obviously leave if I am near the end of my visitor status. I am also never really given a hard time when coming into Canada. The last time I came through YVR the agent asked who I was visiting and I told him "my husband!" (not sure if he would have known this if I hadn't said anything but I felt it was best to be honest of course). He then asked if we had started our paperwork and I said we were getting all of the documents together and were almost ready to send it in and he said "enjoy your visit" and sent me on my way (never asked for any proof). I think its always best to carry some sort of proof of the application anyway with you when crossing just in case. Crossing into the US is another story - they always give my hubby a hard time, even when he is going for work!

Through traveling back and forth in the past 4 years, I have just found that the less I say the easier the crossing. If I would start rambling off they would probably start thinking something is up (maybe that's just me)

Keep me posted on your experiences, its so nice to have someone in the same boat :)

You are updated.

Google signed me out. I had a fit there for a moment.

I'm also American staying in Canada. I get this all the time: "What do you mean you can't work? You're married to a Canadian!" ::)

Nice to see more AORs. Congratulations to all concerned. Let's hope we start to see some sponsorship approvals come through now. ;D
