hi dreamcatcher i'm glad to see ur message :) i thought we r the only ones who didn't receive the CSQ yet :( ...anyway our embassy didn't even send us any letter yet and didn't ask us anything abt the CSQ either (although our file was transfered a week before urs)....here is my csq timeline so far:

csq forms received in Montreal: May 1st
credit card transaction: May 4th (from what i know that means the package is complete and they started the process)
still waiting

the fact that the embassy sent u letter does not really mean much - just making sure that u apply now (maybe they will start the process after u get the CSQ)...the answers u gathered r correct, it could take until 20 business day (roughly 4 normal weeks, so we r both within the processing times), once u have it u need to keep the original and also automatically MICC will transfer a copy to Sydney...since u got the letter asking for it and to make sure u can also send a copy urself following the instructions from the letter

if u'll read a few pages back: i had a conversation with huelaw who got the csq already while they have the same timeline as us (same day received, same day the credit card transaction); it took them 5 business days :o so in some cases it could b faster in some cases slower just like the rest of the process...

good luck and let's keep each other updated!! :)

Thanks for that missmini, you have been a great help, I really appreciate that. For sure I'll let you know how things are going. I'm sure there's nothing to worry about, and I don't think it will be long before we hear something very soon. The approval is the major step out of the way, so it should all be plain sailing from here. :)

As soon as the processing time gets to your date start calling cic everyday. That's how I found out I was approved... The same for a lot of other members.

I hope you don't have to wait the month either! :)

I am Feb 21 and the website says Feb 7. Don't they usually kind of refuse to give you info if you are past that date? Anyone have the number I can use to call from the USA?

So when you called CIC, the agent told you over the phone? If so, how can you trust that? I mean, we all know that the call center agents are less than professional...how soon after getting confirmation via phone did it take to receive the e-mail approval?

I trusted it because my ecas changed a few days later and then I got my letter. I have never heard of them lying about someone being approved.

What they did "lie" about was the fact that my approval came by letter not email. It took a couple of days to get the letter, but then again I live in the toronto area and the letter came from Ottawa

Canadiangirl78 - they probably won't tell you anything now as you are a couple of weeks behind their posted date...as soon as the posted date reaches feb 21 I would call everyday. In Canada the number is 18882422100

So how did they identify you? Just your name? I don't have a UCI or any other number...so if I have to call to confirm approval, will my name suffice? Also, when they confirmed you had been approved, did they give you the UCI number over the phone?

Thanks,

FS

I received AOR about 40 days after I applied so we had a uci number...that's pretty much the only reason why they would talk o me

What about your receipt number?

The receipt I have is the online one...would that work?

From paying online right? Yes they can look up your application with that and you can log into ecas with it.

This is the number and instructions when calling from abroad: +1 613 944 4000 (for an agent: options 1,2,1,2,1 ... then 0 to skip the message).

As to calling before you receive your UCI or file number, just tell them everything you do know. e.g. your full name, birthday, date you filed, receipt number, etc. Truth is though, if you don't have a UCI or application number yet, they may tell you scary things like "we have no record of your application." I got that answer a couple of times. BUT, that's just because the visa officer handling your case hasn't entered you into the system yet. So don't panic if you do get that reply.

IF it has exceeded the normal processing times for your app, they encourage you to call. Do so. Perhaps you will get an agent who will help you out by e-mailing around to get the wheel turning on your app.

Fencesitter, like alf+jlh, I found out about my sponsorship approval by calling. I was told that I was approved and only received the official letter 2 weeks later (as you know, I am abroad)... however, the letter was dated just as the agent on the phone said, so he was definitely telling the truth. I wouldn't say the agents lie (especially about approval). However, I would say that they can be insensitive to the emotional stress we all endure during this application process and say stuff like "we don't have a record of your app" or the like.

sorry that this message is gonna be a little bit on the gloomy side.. but I woke up feeling down. It's so hot and humid here these days, and I think it's getting to me. :(

feels like forever already. Still no word from LA and it's been just about 2 months now since sponsorship approval. I know that others have longer waits and everything... :( I am just complaining. I just wish we would hear something and that this process would move along already! >:(

it's just one of those days I guess. but I want to go home already!
