That would have been the smart and most effective way to run the lottery. But this is CIC, so of course that didn't happen.

They have absolutely no way of determining if a lottery applicant is eligible or not. They will not find out until they submit an actual application, or what will probably happen in most cases is the lottery winner will not even bother to submit an app since they know they don't qualify.

That is not good then. I am still hoping they do have a way to send only eligible invites.

They don't, it has been discussed in the other thread before. Approximately 85% of all of those that filled the online forms were invalid/ineligible.
They will select 10,000, invite those to apply, and then figure out wich are invalid or ineligible. It will probably get re-worked in 2018.

Seems like the draw will happen at the end of the 30 day period starting from 3rd February, 2017.

I guess this gap is to prune the applicants so that none of the 10,000 invites gets wasted on an Incomplete/Invalid or unqualified applicant.

I hope I am wrong, either way, we have to wait a little more.

Where did you learn this?

The poster is just guessing.

Any idea why it takes them so long just to select 10k? At this rate 2017 is completely a mess for PGP program, what a failure! Should we sue them for being so stupid in the way they operate that affect so many people lives? They sre treating family reunification as a joke and act like a stupid 6 years old in putting a naive form with no check and balance to ensure only eligible sponsor can apply!

i agree this program doesn't make sense at all, what if the 10,000 they pick are all not eligible, what if 70% of those applications are fake or people just want to try if they are lucky.. it's really a stupid idea.

I still am a bit hopeful.

So, I guess nobody has beard from IRCC yet.

According to the web confirmation received after submission of the online form, it said, at the end of the thirty day period, randomly selected profiles will be contacted via the provided email address to further work on the application process.

The online application process ended on 2nd February so the invitations would start pouring in from 4th March, if that being a Saturday is not an issue.

Good luck all!

At the end of 30 period means after the 30 days they gave us to fill in the form, not 30 days after that. They do not say when they will give out the invitation, it could be in March, it could be in April or May. By the time 2016 tax return would be available and people who met income in 2016 would scratch their head on why they are not allowed to apply even if they are invited, oh well but this is how broken the system is

any news on this ? has anyone received any response from the CIC on invitation to apply?

Nothing as of yet ... whats taking them so long? A five year old could write a query to eliminate duplicates!

would they be giving that spot to someone else who filled that form?

I am hoping they do that if they're really serious about family reunification.

After all for them, getting in old people means definite increase in health care expenditure.

I seriously doubt that a spot given to an un-eligible applicant or an applicant that decides not to apply will be given to someone else.
By the time they have gone through the application packages of those selected it will be mid 2018, and the 2018 process will already be underway.
Best hope is that they add a screening process in 2018.
