I applied for my visitor extension at the 6th month mark (August) and I received confirmation that the application was signed for by someone at CPC-vegreville on 8/11. It's now 11/11 and I've heard nothing from them...is this normal?

I am going back to the US with my husband for Thanksgiving...I'm anticipating them asking how long my visit in canada was which has now been 9 months. Technically this is okay, correct? Since I did apply for my extension in August I've had implied status (is that the correct word?) for 3 months. I don't want them to make a note that I've overstayed my visit & then have it cause any problems for us. I am bringing proof of our entire application along with receipts and confirmation that our visitor application was received.

Is it normal to not hear anything from CIC? Unfortunately, the answer is yes.

Did you visitor status expire on 8/10, or 8/11?

Since you have proof that your extension request was received prior to your status expiring, you are in fact covered under implied status. As soon as you leave Canada, however, your implied status leaves too.

When you seek re-entry into Canada, you will be assessed by a CBSA officer who will decide whether or not to grant your request. Having an active Spousal Sponsorship application will certainly help, but you must also satisfy any concerns that the officer may have regarding something called Dual Intent. Basically, you'll be asking to be allowed to re-enter Canada while you (1) await a positive decision on your PR application, but will (2) leave Canada if the PR is denied.

my visitor status expired 8/26/15, but I sent my application a few weeks early knowing they are slow...however, wasn't expecting it to take 3+ months. (but I guess I shouldn't be surprised )
