Isn't modern day Canada and US founded by the Brits or at least they played a large part to it.

In fact, the head of Canada is still the British queen.

I have seen the Student life very closely in Canada.
Without their degrees it would be tough, But if you got something crucial like Expertise in Mining, IT, Finance, Economics, Petroleum, Scientific Research Background. you would be fine.

Oh really, at least someone is current and still knows his history.
And for those who say a large no of Brits move to Canada, Australia etc. You know why, Because they can afford a lot more. The Sterling Pound when converted gives you almost the double of these currencies. Some of these Guys become Mortgage free immediately. A lot of them have relatives who live in these countries. Another reason being that their is no Language barrier.
(even though the dialect may look funny to some). Getting a job for the Brits is also easy in these countries. Just to mention but a few. Have you forgotten the "heritage of Australian's". Hmm... was it not the Brits who founded Australia or am I wrong?
Of course, Britain is small compared to countries like Australia and Canada. What would you expect from an Island? - is it a lot of Land?
Anyway, everybody has a right to their own view. The fact remains and cannot be denied that the people of this small Island ruled the world for hundred of years and colonized ton's of countries. I am not saying this, history speaks for itself. :p

LONG LIVE GREAT BRITAIN. LONG LIVE CANADA.

Depends on who wrote the history and which version you're reading. If you read Native American version of history or Native people in Australia you will find a true contrast.
Move for cost of living: If you live in a country likes US, you can easily move to a state where cost of living is lot lower then moving to Australia--- I guess?

You hit the key points; it's a small "Very small" island and should come to realize that present world is a lot different then 17 or 18th centuries. BTW, you should also read Roman history where they were colonial power which includes present time GB.

I like Britain for its history, culture and many other things but people have lot more opportunities and they can pick which one works for them.

BobbyB - no offence but as a DIE HARD NOW CANADIAN - I beg to differ BIGGGGGGGGGGG with u on the following points :::

1) UK is TOO TOO TOO SMALL compared to CANADA ( If Canada is a house then UK is the TOILET in that house)

OH YES!!! Trust me if i can aviod UK I will in my tavel plan.

2) Sure - UK has more culture and history than Canada - but BORING - I think the whole world thinks the BRITISH to be the most Boring and Dull of all western people - including the British accent which is matter of joke and ridicule in Canada

What CULTURE, all they do is mock others, back biting.. I was there few times and all they do is back biting and ridiculing their co-worker. I thought Brits are cool, but OMG thats SO CHANGED. And, I WONDER when ppl say UK got CULTURE, are you talking about BIG HISTORICAL BUILDINGS built by stolen money/wealth and free sweat of their past colonies...THEN GO TO FRANCE.

3) Everything in the UK is very small compared to Canada - extremely small houses, small cars, small roads and even the Food Quantity is very very small - probably because UK is very poor compared to Canada and cannot afford big things

HELL YA, It drove me crazy. Tired of seeing little Brits..

4) British people are crazy to migrate to Canada in very large numbers - in turn Canadians are least bothered about moving to UK - comparison wise - BELIEVE me it is VERY EASY for Canadians to go and live in Europe if they want no problem

YES YES YES, but less Brits is good. I dont want that Brit Virus in CANADA.

5) Salary wise - 35,000 pounds is considered a very good salary in UK (as per the UKBA website)- which is almost $60,000 dollars a year. Nobody is Canada will say that $60,000 is a good salary - usuually $100,000 is considered a good salary here - this shows that SALARY LEVELS in the UK are VERY LOW

Yes, they sip soup in lunch apparently meals are too costly.

6) The Weather in UK sucks - raining, boring , depressing etc etc etc

dont know much abt it.

7) Last but not the least - if it werent for generous help of Canada and USA during World War 2 - UK would by now have been a German Colony - it cant even stand and fight for its own since the 20th century - always begging to USA and Canada for help - food, money, security (Marshall Plan)

Care less...but good Canada help and should help whe need help.

SO Sorry BobbyB - you cant even compare the 2 - if Canada is Good, UK is probably getting past the OK category !!!

I havenotg but lived in UK for long but been there for about two months , I was so surprised to see their attitude...I could not believe they ruled most part of the world...i felt pity for the rest of the world ..trust me.

BUT I AM BIG TIME FAN OF CANADA even I was there once for 4/5 days....
It is not meant to be an hate spin, but I felt like I want to get out of UK asap and not going back again.

1)North America was discovered by Columbus - He was Italian and not British. Along with the British, North America was colonized by the spanish, french and the portuguese - so not only british but all European. Also, Queen Elizabeth is officially the Queen of Canada - A ROLE WHICH IS TOTALLY SEPERATE AND INDEPENDENT FROM HER ROLE AS THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND. No overlap her - completely different. Also, she is ONLY a ceremonial head - she cannot even sign her own expense report - it has to be approved by the government of Canada first. SO BETTER READ UP ON HISTORY A BIT.

2) Talking of History, UK was once a ROMAN COLONY - documented History - so does that mean that UK is still inferior to Rome and Italy ? Maybe as per Bobby B's arguments I guess - in that case you should bow down every time you see someone from Rome.

3) The reason most British people migrate to Canada is because they do MANUAL LABOR JOBS which Canadians dont want to do - examples are Construction Workers and Caregiver Nannys. British workers in Canada remind me of Central American workers in the US - only difference they speak English even though with a very boring accent. So I will not be surprised if tomorrow we in Canada import Toilet Cleaners from the UK - for jobs Canadians will NOT do. I am sure the British will do them - just so they can stay in Canada. Just to give you an example - if you are a Canadian educated Doctor, you can easily work in UK but a British educated Doctor has a real tough time working as a Doctor in Canada and will probably end up driving a Taxi here. That shows how Canadians think of British education and experience - SUBSTANDARD.

Bottomline I appreciate you taking the side of the UK, but being a new Canadian - I will go with Canada - to me Canada is far far better than UK. But I hope you get your Canadian PR soon - after all you have been waiting so long for that - is it 3 years or more I guess ???Long Wait !!!!

Columbus discover America ha ha ha. America was not discovered, it always had people in it. However, the people from the Isles had the biggest influence on modern US and Canada.

All these countries are great. I bet there are billions of people who would want to live in either of these countries. I live in the US and I think life in the US is pretty soft for me but I can still see benefits of living in Canada or UK.

I would not say "Substandard", UK has one of the top universities in the world like Oxford, Cambridge, King's College which Edinburgh. I don't think Canadian doctor can work in US, would you say the same thing to Canadian education???

Some professionals are high regulated by respective governments and medicine is one of those.... My 2 cents.
