Yep, UK has awesome universities. The best in UK are way above the best in Canada. I agree with you on the doctors example. The fact that UK doctors not being able to work in Canada has nothing to do with standards but rather mostly with protectionism. It is hard for a MIT or Caltech graduate to get an academic job in Canada because of new accreditation rule. Does it mean these universities are worse than Canadian ones in Engineering....i think not. But Canada also does have some great universities.
