International Student wanting to get married to a foreigner in Canada

Hi,

I am an international student doing a Master's degree course in Ontario. My girlfriend of 5+ years is in another country and has never come to Canada. She doesn't have a visa either. It won't be possible for me to go back to her country of residence soon. Is it possible for her to come to Canada on a tourist visa and marry me? Will she have to disclose that on her application? Would that decrease her chances of getting a visa?
Or is there any other way?

I would be grateful for any help.

It's certainly possible for her to apply for a visitor visa - however it's impossible for any of us to tell you whether it will be approved. To be approved, she will need to demonstrate that she has strong ties to her home country and has no plans on remaining in Canada long term. No - she should not mention that she plans to marry in Canada. If she declares this, it's pretty much guaranteed her visa will be refused.

Just to follow up on that- Can that marriage, since it wouldn't be disclosed in the visa, lead to problems when I apply for a PR a year later? Can the authorities deny a visa to my spouse when she comes later due to this marriage-tourist visa thing?

No - it won't be a problem.
