Great news! As a Canadian citizen I strongly support Immigration Minister Chris Alexander. The citizenship residency requirement should be increased to 6 out of 8 yrs, not 4 out 6 yrs. There are too many immigrants in Canada, and something needs to be done!touché said:http://www.calgaryherald.com/touch/news/national/Canada+toughen+eligibility+requirements+citizenship/9328035/story.html?rel=841484
I expect the change will be announced in January 2014.canadp said:Important News indeed.
Those guys who already have completed physical presence of 1095 days, should not wait any longer to apply for Citizenship as rules might change any time and then you may have to wait another year or so.
That is the reason I am applying next week and even do not want to apply in 2014.
Thanks for updating this.

Can't you read? It says in 2014.Dejaavu said:I do not think change will be so soon. It will take at least another couple of years if at all happens.
Do you hope it takes a long time? No, it can be passed right away. They are doing this for the upcoming election. If they can get this done, they'll win the election again.Dejaavu said:They will introduce the bill. Before it gets anywhere and becomes a law it will take a long time.

Does anyone know the average amount of time it takes to pass a bill in Canada? Or the shortest time it can take to the longest time it can take?
