Hey Asta:

I went and saw our lawyer today, he said immigration is nothing more than the luck of who you get looking at your case. He said there is really no rhyme or reason of why you get approved, one thing could be a problem for one couple and not a problem for the next. It's fantastic to know our immigration process works so well :) Hopefully the next worker going over our case likes us haha

Jess.
Thats sad that its a likeable factor... sad and wrong. isnt that bias?? . i guess the worker on my file didnt like me very much either.. :|.... I hope nanaimo likes me :|..

Sometimes coming here makes me feel bad because i read abt other peoples getting aip and PR with waaaayyy less stuff then me. . people who have just got married after a six month courtship and sending only 20 photos as proof! to be honest that makes me absolutely furious..
you know.. i have been taking photos everyday with dh :( ... why?? because i ned to send more evidence. last week he bought me a bouquet of roses and a love note (He does that all the time!) but i never took pictures of the roses ... why????. its normal for us... but i took pictures of it. I even asked him to pose with me.. I felt sooo rehearsed!. it didnt feel genuine at all. i felt fake and i looked at that ophoto. it wasnt us... we dont normally take photos of everything. i mean why would we?. but this process has changed me/us. i was looking at a list of the questions they may ask. i felt like i was studying them Yuck!. i will not/refuse to study the questions. I know what this man likes and dislikes are. we practiacally finish each others senntences.. like literally!.. we dont need to study anything.

jdwhite just take your time this time since you now know. what is the processing time of El Salvador? did you try sponsoring his daighter as well?..

Hey black-berry:

On CIC processing time for his office which is in Guatemala is 18 months :( I'm thinking we should have everything together in about a month. So Jose will be here in about 20 months :) Not too long at all... I know what you mean though about it seeming like putting on a show for them, I guess some people are just better at jumping through hoops than others. It is rather discouraging to see how easy it is for some and how much harder it is for others. Like at our interview, Jose gets nervous quite easy so to them they thought he was hiding something, it couldn't possibly be that he was uncomfortable. But our lawyer said to that immigration generally thinks men are more desperate to come to Canada so immigration looks at their cases more intently, I found that weird. But he said thats why our age difference is important where as the people I know with the 40 year age difference is no big deal because it's a woman being sponsored to come to Canada. I guess no one will ever truly know how immigration actually works. It's just sad that that much power is placed in the sole discretion of one person who can play with your life simple because they like or don't like you. And I showed the lawyer our application from the first time, all the evidence, everything (I made photocopies) and he said we really shouldn't have even had a problem at Vegreville, that made me mad.
No we are not sponsoring his daughter, she does not want to come to Canada. You would think that would show immigration he isn't just doing it to all of a sudden move a bunch of people here from El Salvador.

hi BB,
my Case is as follows:
Received at vegerville= Sep2008
started reveiwing= Oct 2008
transferred to CIC local ofc (Calgary)without AIP= March10,2009(actually mispalced for 9 months (their mistake)and arrived at Calgary in Dec 2009.
CIC local wrote that my file will be reviewed in= August 2011----------------almost 3 years, aweful
Meanwhile I have a 19 months old baby and another one is on the way soon.I have stopped thinking about it now.still feel very frustrated sometime when i look back at the time wastage.
Foss Notes does'nt tell much except what i understand is where they mentioned relationship=No Relationship,so i think they are doubtful about our genuine married life, just waiting to get their call for interview next year in august.atleast i have an yearly visa extention, alberta card and can raise my kids meanwhile.
anybody with experience at CIC Calgary???
thanks

Hey Mehwish,

thank you for your update. you know when i read everyone elses stories i become very grateful grateful because i think i am lucky.

Today CIC Nanaimo (Interviewing Officer) called me!. to schedule an interview for Monday. An informal Interview that is. She was extremely nice to me over the phone. I must say that my life has been turned upside down today. She said she doesnt doubt my relationship but all she wants is for me to show up with my passport, My original marriage certificate, home ownership forms. dhs business confirmation or proof that he owns a business and kids cdn citizenship cards and a few other tidbits that i cant think off the top of my head right now. She didnt mention all the almost 200 photos i have managed to accumulate during my waiting for interview time.

My file transferred to nanaaimo on Octo 20th and got there today (Nov 25th). so yah abt a month. she remembered me (TOUCHE!) and called me as soon as she had it in her hands. called me immediately. She wanted me to go in today!. But DH has been working all day and tomorrow she was busy for tomorrow . so im going in on Monday. She told me she will just take copies of my documentation nothing else. Does that mean i will finally get AIP?.or even PR?. I also just recieved my FOSS notes and on my foss notes it shows that my security checks are in process or have been already done. They requested them in october.
I am starting to feel a little nervous and i have my fingers crossed.

Wow misplaced for 9 months?!?!? . thats crazy!!. i cant imagine waiting for 3 years...!!. have you accumulated stuff in preparation?. ie letters, photos, joint ownership property etc?. bank accounts and letters from friends/relatives?.. Some people here mentioned going in person to the office or requesting your FOSS notes to help prepare you better.

i dont know about the Calgary office but i hear that its one of the busier offices!.
Miracles do happen though. look at me.. I think and believe my case is a little different than the norm here. i wopuldnt lose hope yet. try and go to the office personally and speak to a VO about your case. appear wth your family ;). trust me on this. start sending proof to them. photos, letters whatever you can if you havent...

Best of luck.
I will keep you all updated for Monday meanwhile... MONDAY!!>>> ive never ever looked forward for it being a Monday in my life!...

Just a little rant...

So after 2 weeks of trying I got through to the call center. What a waste of time. He said well, when you get transferred to a local office, "all bets are off" as far as processing times go. 18-24 months till they look at your file from the time it is transferred. Then its a joint process, so it all happens at once, the sponsorship approval and the PR. There won't be AIP then PR later, but all at once. I think I need a second opinion, this guy was definitely contradicting a lot of the actual experiences of people on this forum. He also said the changes to the website don't apply to transfers to local office (so why doesn't the website indicate that???)

No idea when our FOSS notes are coming "can't predict how long that will take". Basically no information, couldn't even confirm if our address had been updated because I couldn't remember our old postal code! Told me I had the wrong address info - I'm sorry but I gave you both of the bloody addresses so who cares if I can't remember my post code? Also couldn't tell me if the Edmonton office was busier than others.....

Ok ranting over. Just a little frustrated....

It's so hard not to stress and worry - and some of the reasons for Jess and Jose to get turned down worry me too. Their IO sounds like a major problem!! I really hope we get Suzanne's IO!! I am older, though not by a lot, we own very little, I do have a car but its junk, and obviously my husband can't drive it so it is not in his name. We rent, don't own, and most of our furniture is hand-me-downs. We do have joint accounts and all that so I hope that is something in our favor. Yes, there are cultural differences too, but I have traveled and he has been in Canada a long time, so I don't see that being an issue. I would have more cultural differences with someone who have never left Canada, and I really hope they can see that.

Do they always interview both people when it's an inland interview? Or will they let you know if they want to? Although it sure sounds like that won't happen for a long time! I just wish we could get AIP so my husband could work! It would make him so much happier....

Boasorte...We applied in September 2009 and were transferred to Edmonton in March without AIP. We submitted more info in July, and applied for FOSS notes around the beginning of this month. There are some complexities in our case but still.....That's all we know!

We paid them a visit in the summer to drop off more information. Our FOSS does not indicate that that info was looked at yet, last time they touched our file was 6+ months ago. There isn't even a BF date!!

Edmonton is a big office, I don't know how many cities they process through there but if there is no Northern office, then I am sure they are busy with all the people that come to Alberta to work!! They have no time to speak to people who don't have appointments! We will try again in a few months. The notes say 12-24 months processing time, which is actually better than what the call center told me last time, which was 18-24 months!

Hi Justina,

I hope you get my IO too! She was really nice, and we did get both AIP and PR pretty much at the same time, we just didn't know it, we got a vague letter requesting our presence at an interview for further investigation, but it was our landing.

Try to keep bringing them stuff, more pictures, letters, emails. Even letters from friends saying that they both know you etc. Anything that you can think of, just so that they will remember you.

Ok that's just plain crazy!
My advise?? Consider moving to Nanaimo. You can stay with me :) transfer your file here :)
The weather is mild here :) not like Edmonton my io is awesome. She will look at your file immediately and land you !

I have realized the advantage of transferring your file to a local office is /can also be a good thing because at your interview you have a very high chance of being landed once everything is fine .
And yep I agree with Suzanne !
I thought my visit was not that fruitful but these people remember you! Go with your partner too if you can next time

BB we did go together, they just took our stuff and sent us on our way :( . Next year we will bring more stuff, but I wonder when it will get linked, since the stuff we brought in the summer does not seem to have been added to our file.

:O wow fernandita!... 2012???. have you considered moving cities to a less busier office at least??. I know moving is no joke but maybe you can move temporarily??. February 2012 is over a year away!..... If i were you i probably would consider it. Also. dont go by the times the call center puts. The call center is out to discourage peopel and half the time they dont know what they are saying...
