I never thought Edmonton was so busy before, but it seems that way now.
We did one additional submittal of documents, and are considering a second. Waiting to see what FOSS says.
We have been married for more than a year now, and in immigration limbo for over a year too.
I'm the Canadian sponsor, my husband is from East Africa. No kids yet, we are kind of worried about me getting pregnant with only one kind of low income, but we really want to get started on our family! So it won't come as a surprise if I get pregnant in the next few months.
I just wish they would come to our home, see we are a legitimate couple and let us get on with our lives!
Well Suzanne seems to have lucked out!. Maybe you can just keep submitting stuff here and there and one day BOOM they will call you??.
maybe wait for your FOSS notes see what they say then go from there.

i ordered my FOSS notes a week ago and still aint heard anything.

Im from East Africa as well (Kenya). but have a permanent residence in bermuda as well because ive lived and worked there for 8 years and dh is half bermudian half canadian.

unlike you i have been married for almost 8 years 3 kids, 6,7 and 17. No kids outside the country to complicate issues, No criminal record. I actually have very VERY strong ties to bermuda. We have a house there, fully paid for and my former employer wrote a letter for the record that he would hire me whenever i needed a job. He put an open offer on the table . So i am not from a desperate country. bermuda is considered one of the wealthier countries and to be honest with you, right now im considering withdrawing everything and applying outland, pack up my family, sell back our ouse and just going back and apply outland. less stressful and my career can go on. the quality of life there is alsoso much better not to mention the gorgeous weather. Than come back after a year when i get PR.

See i dont understand. ive not quite met someone like me who has been transferred ie married for a long time . Everyone who has been transferred has been married for a year or less than 2 years. It makes me believe it may not be the genuiy of our relationship but maybe something to do with my husband maybe?? I dunno something just feels off

So what are you doing to pass time?

Honey bird..
A.I.P. stands for Approval In Principle.
Inlanders get Approval In Principal when they pass the 1st stage of sponsorship approval . and the sponsor gets the letter stating he is eligible to sponsor and the spouse or partner gets an open work permit or a letter stating they ar good to go. That is A.I.P.
What is A.O.R. ?. I thought only Outlanders get A.O.R. ?..

I have to admit Black berry....your application is the strangest I have read to date. I cannot understand why you have not got PR yet, let alone AIP.

I will be so interested when you get your FOSS notes and/or interview to find out why they red flagged you.

Sometimes the immigration process makes no sense at all...

But have everything crossed that this ends for you soon.

It's easier for me because I work, but the stress of being the only income is difficult. And since there is still no AIP, hubby can't work. How frustrating! He watches lots of soccer....but that doesn't cover all the time.

You and hubby have lived together for so long, it really makes no sense. And as the children of a Canadian, at least your 2 youngest have Canadian citizenship ( I assume, but I can't remember from your previous posts). So why they would delay allowing a mostly Canadian family the right to permanently reside in Canada makes no sense either!!

I wish you well on your case.

I find it odd as well i must admit!. I wait for my foss notes everyday and when i get them i will tear that envelope open like its PR!... Its prob something small and irrelevant (which i will be madly be infuriarated about!) When i was putting my application together i thought mines would be easy. Ran it by a few friends who had done it before,

You are right. It makes no sense!. i can only wait and see and as soon as my notes show up. I know i will be here madly venting about how somthing small it is!.

justina, the kids are ALL canadian. my husbands ex wife is mentally ill and when i met him, he was living with his daughter was was 7 at the time. She needed a mother so i became her guardian legally. and have been in her life ever since. I love her like she is mines. She is 17 now can be a pain in the *** but i love her unconditionally like she came from me!!. The kids all got canadian citizenship thu hubby and the 1st generation rule.

Would the separate us really/. ive read here of people who have been married with kids and have been forced to leave the country!. It breaks my heart and would break my heart to think that we would be forcefully separated. My kids are settled nicely, they are in school , made new friends., i also love my husband very much. We have NEVER EVER been apart or separated for the past 8.5 years!. We have made a new life here for us and the children. We recently got a dog for the boys and they are in LOVE!!. Not only will it break my heart but four other peoples hearts who love me tremendously .
Everytime i think of this process, my eyes well with tears!. Thinking of the possibility that someone has a choice of hurting my family :(

I can only pray. thanks for the concern and i will be praying for you all too

Hi Black-Berry:

We were inland as well. Transferred to local office without AIP in November of 09. our office was Edmonton. Had an interview in July 2010. Letter of refusal sent in October 2010. Voluntary removal order sent in October of 2010. We had submitted additional evidence as well as took some into our interview, our IO would not look at it.
Jose and I have been together for 3 yrs, married for 2. We have a 2 yr old and another baby on the way. We provided a tremendous amount of evidence and it was still not enough.

I wish you much luck and I pray that your office is better, I don't understand honestly why you would have any troubles either, I am hoping you hear something soon.

Take care fellow inlander.
Jess. Now an outlander.

Hey JDWhite!,,
I was wondering about you. Is Jose now an Outlander?. did you put his paperwork ad yours through?. When did you do it?.
My most important question is what have you done differently now on your application?. . Are you with him?. how is your pregnancy and other other child?.

Well my kids are a little older. they are 6,7 and 17. With so much talk on marriage fraud and the steps the gvt is tightening their procedures, am not gonna put this as my only option but i will plan ahead as a just incase case scenario.

Im so sorry that you had to go trough all this JDWHITE hopefully now they will realise their mistake!. I wish you the best and only the best

Now i sent my FOSS notes over a month ago.. i have heard absolutely NOTHING!....
to be honest, ive stopped fighting... i dont even think about the immigration process anymore. im trying to grow my hair right now and this thinking will make me `loose`it instead ::)... so i come here once or twice a week... scheme through to see who i can congratulate and go back to growing my hair :).... I have decided to focus my life on other things. its almost end of November now and i am hoping to hear something very soon.
Thanks for checking in jdwhite and best of Luck!. fingers crossed. Think of those babies ok. My office is nanaimo.. ive not heard even one other person here in the nanaimo office so i have no idea how it operates. Time will tell

can someone please tell me how long it takes FOSS notes

BB. I send you a hug!I agrre, your application is one of the strangest. If I remember correctly Mimi just got her FOSS notes after almost two months. You might want to ask her more about it.

JD hang in there.....been thinking of you! Hopefully they will come to their senses soon and let you and Jose be together for good!!

Black-berry we ordered our foss notes close to a month ago - I believe it is only supposed to take 30 days, but obviously nothing in this process is straightforward! Hoping you and I both get ours soon!

Yes, Jose will be an outlander now. We have not put our paperwork through yet. Jose has been gone for just about a month now and I have just finally secured a loan from the bank and I have contacted the lawyer so we are just beginning the process. When we talked to the lawyer before Jose left he thought it best to wait a few months before reapplying anyways because than we could set up our evidence of e-mails, facebook chats, phone calls etc to put in with our application to show that we are still communicating. We should have everything together in about a month, I am hoping to put our application through before the end of December.
Things we will be doing differently though is having a lawyer do it first and foremost. Have our evidence of communication and just basically include all the extra evidence that our IO wouldn't accept. The pregnancy is going well. No concerns there whatsoever.
I think your right about the fighting.. all it does is give you false hope. We had false hope when we thought our MP's office could help us... and they tried but it didn't do anything. Even after he left I wrote an email to the Minister of Immigration and a lady from his office contacted me, agreed we were not handled fairly and said there was nothing they could do but "trust that if we apply again our case will be looked at judiciously and fairly" More false hope. It's probably best to just focus on other things and know everything will work out at some point...
It took us about 6 weeks I think to get the FOSS notes.

Take care,
Jess.

Our reasons for refusal:
According to the IO at our interview was the age difference, the culture difference, and the fact that we owned next to nothing together.
According to our MP's office after we were denied PR for Jose, was that his daughter needed him in El Salvador. We provided evidence as to how he had never lived with her, she has always been with her mother and that she actually benefits more from him being here because she receives a lot more money than she ever did when he was working there. Also, the fact that he has been divorced. I don't really know how you get around that one... lot's of people are divorced. And that our interview answers did not match up. The IO lost her place during my interview and Jose and I are almost positive she didn't ask us all the same questions. But again there is not much we can do there. Seems like a lot of bullshit to us. I think she didn't like us when we walked in the room and would've found any reason to deny us. We will be applying outland here soon.
Thanks for your well wishes.

Justina:

Yes I thought of you the other day as well, actually thats what made me come back on the forum. I hadn't been on in a while because its a little depressing to see all the other happy people receiving evidence as happy as I am for all of them. I hope you hear something soon. Please keep me posted on the status of your case or if you ever get your interview. I'm hoping Edmonton office is much better for you than it was for us.
Thanks, I know Jose and I will be together for good soon, just later than sooner I guess.

Jess.

I sent my application in August 2009.
Start to process: Sept. 2009
Transferred without AIP: April 2010 (Vancouver office)
Still waiting....

I called CIC in September 2010 asking for any update in my case, the answer was that I would receive in my mail a letter from my local office with an appointment in October 8th but I didn't get any letter...so I called again asking for the "letter" and this time the agent told me that my file was sitting in the office waiting for an agent to work on it (now there is no letter). I called one more time, a month later, and this time was a really nice women on the other side of the phone, I told her about the letter I was supposed to receive and she said that an agent cannot have any access to this kind of information and she doesn't understand why an "agent" could say that to me but the only thing she could see was that my file was open and "someone"was working on it.

Honestly, I don't believe in any answer, I'm tired of waiting and is very frustrating see how my friends are getting their PR in less than 6 months. My husband and I want to make a trip together to my country and see my family and I'm stuck in the middle of this process, I can't work nor study. I'm just sitting in front of my computer everyday waiting for a phone call, a letter, an email... a miracle maybe.

I was volunteer for 5 months and I give up, I study another language at home and I just finished the course, I learn to make craft jewelry and give my creations to my friends, I read tons of books, I started a blog in the internet, I learn about business and I just started to study english to get a better pronunciation, What else do I need to learn????????? I don't know why is soooo slow I don't know what else I can learn to pass the time...I'm going to be flying airplanes by the time I get my PR...LOL

I'm going to say what everyone says: Inlanders hold on there we almost get it =)

we have cultural difference too - im caucasian, he is asian.
we dont own anything together too - actually my sponsor hubby doesnt own anything himself. we live with inlaws/his parents. even his car is still under his moms name.
so the problem is not cause of these factors. they probably found smthing they didnt like and then they are adding all those differences between u two as a minus.
well we dont have age difference - we are 27/28.

good luck to u guys!

Hey Asta:

I went and saw our lawyer today, he said immigration is nothing more than the luck of who you get looking at your case. He said there is really no rhyme or reason of why you get approved, one thing could be a problem for one couple and not a problem for the next. It's fantastic to know our immigration process works so well :) Hopefully the next worker going over our case likes us haha
