Hello every1:
Just wondering what is the current processing time for in-land spousal sponsorship? The website says 26 month but
a friend of mine got approved in 6 months, from initial application to PR visa. Has any of you been in similar luck or was it just a one-off case?
It is about my wife, who will finish her masters by this year and has a valid Canadian visa until Nov next year. Seeing the official processing time, I'm holding off her PR application to file through express entry once she graduates with her masters but still debating whether I should just file sponsorship application. I have Canadian citizenship.

Thanks for any suggestions and sharing your processing times, if applicable! :)

My husband completed the process in 8 months - very lucky. However, there are still people who applied March 2015 who are not finished. Processing times seem to vary greatly

That's what makes me worried. Not sure how to go about this.
Thanks for sharing though!
We applied July 2015 and still waiting. Inland is very unpredictable. They processed Jan-March 2015, then skipped to Sept 2015-Jan 2016 apps. And now they are finally processing April-August 2015 apps it seems. I think they do it that way to bring down their overall 'processing time' average for statistics. I wouldn't advise applying inland. It is terrible. Be aware that you are advised to not leave Canada if you apply inland as if the border officer on re-entry denies you, then your application can be cancelled and there is no apply option on inland applications.

It is so draining the time people have to wait 8-26 months to know if you and your partner will be able to live together and no longer worrying that someone who does not know you gets to decide where you will live. The only benefit is that with inland you get to be together and have the opportunity to work. At least when you receive SA you know that step 1 has been accomplished but the waiting game is hard. At least we have this forum to commiserate with each other and we get to share and understand when other people finally get what we are all waiting for.

Yep, the waiting is the worst, especially when they don't process them in order so you see people that applied months after you receiving PR. It is torture. I also wish I could travel home but not willing to take the risk.

We are April 2015, still waiting. Received request for medical exam as the one we submitted with application had expired. Received note that medical results have been received but we have no idea what's next or how long! My husband I have traveled a lot during our application, we have never had ANY issues coming back in. He's just always completely honest and has his open work permit with him at all times.

Is he from the US? I am from the UK and just don't want to take the risk going all the way there and border being difficult - you never know what kind of day the officer has had :/

I am glad that you are able to travel but I just do not feel the risk is worth it.

Husband is not from a visa exempt country and after enduring 7 months of this process I do not feel comfortable jeopardizing it. I know plenty of people travel with no problems but....you never know.

I am just hopeful that they really are serious about expediting the process for everyone, not just Americans.

That's exactly how I feel too. Did you get your gcsm notes? I ordered mine and they said our app had been added to the 2016 reduction exercise.

He is from the UK as well. He has left 4 times, the last time, we went back to the UK for wedding together in June. Absolutely no issues. I do believe you are allowed to leave, as long as you have all the correct paperwork to return.

Are you on Open work permit? If so, you are definitely allowed to leave and come back.

Incorrect. The OWP does not permit border crossing. The fact that he is from UK, and they grant the visitor visa at the border is why he can cross. The OWP only permits someone to remain in Canada to work.
